I've been looking to buy a Sigma 10-20 or Tamron 10-24 for my Nikon D5100 - i've looked at the prices second hand on here and also on fleabay but just can't bring myself too spend almost as much on a second hand lens as I could a new one...

So my question is - bearing in mind the prices are similar is there any advantage of buying the lens from Digital Rev or Panamoz ?

As I understand it both are based in HK and both would be grey imports ?

thanks

Never had any trouble with digitalrev, they have a good import tax policy

Just bought a D7000 from Panamoz with no worries. I don't think you will go wrong with either though.

My only thought is, that the Tamron SP AF10-24mm F/3.5-4.5 Di-II is £329 from HK. In PC World (first place I looked on Google Shopping!!) it's £349. I'd personally buy a UK lens simply for the 5 year guarantee if the price is that negligible. My 2 pence worth!

thanks mate - good advice

but its only £303 on Panamoz...

I've used both and had great service from both.

Never used DR but used panamoz, fast postage, good price and if it goes wrong you send it back they test it and send you a new one.

panamoz are currently sending previous customers messages requesting they put positive reviews on websites and forums and the like, and in return they'l send their previous customers £10.

Its got me thinking why?? If i did a driving lesson, would i pay the pupil a £10 for a staged review or would i just hope people were happy with the service given and give relevant reviews as an where necessary....

i cant say i've ever used dr, but the one occassion i used panamoz was drawn out, stressful, and not overly enjoyable... i now use hdews....

I also picked hdew over panamoz, purely because I could get a hold of them. I could phone them and they don't have an answering machine when you call. Plus panamoz took 2 days to reply to an email. They can give me £10 if they want for me to comment on them. But it won't be pretty ;)

I have bought off both, Lens & a flash meter had no issues with any of them although DR took a bit longer to deliver.
I agree with Manualfocus to a point as long as the price difference is not too Great

thanks folks - castle cameras looks like the best deal i think :)

Do all tamaron lenses bought in the UK come with a 5 year warranty ?

ive recently used both digital rev has good site etc but i did have to pay import duty

waiting on delivery of my 60d from panamoz quite a bit cheaper than digital rev and they pay any fees incurred :)
