Hi all

With Christmas coming we have been thinking of getting a digital frame as a gift for a family member and adding an SD card with family pictures on it ~ so ready out of the box.

But the question is which make, model and size to consider for buying?

Any reviews or suggestions would be much appreciated

TIA :)

Bump :)

I had hoped some folk hereabouts have splashed the cash on these. Perhaps not?

Anyone with any insight to give?

Many thanks.

I did something similar for my parents last year and bought a Sandstrom one for about £50 from Currys. It's ok, but the viewing angles aren't great, something I omitted to consider, so you really need to be facing it.

Make sure you check out viewing angles.

i bought one of the samsung SPF 107H 10inch photo frames which i think is very good the viewing angles are quite generous too which i know can be a pain with some frames
the reason i didn't mention it earlier is because it's now discontinued but if you can find one there pretty good also the monitor feature does not work with windows 8 / 10 the software hasn't been updated to be compatible but if it's not going to be used for that purpose it shouldn't bother you

I know that it is not probably the response that you are looking for but have you considered getting them a tablet instead? Most tablets have a function where, when not being used as a tablet, they behave just like a digital photo frame. They are also handy when you decide that you do want to browse the internet or something like that. I know that this will push the budget up a bit it might be something worth considering.

Thanks for the insight and feedback :)

Fair comment about tablet vs digital frame but as a gift I was hoping (?) for a decent quality budget one! But as in all things especially electronics you get what you pay for and I have come across various 'new' design that have cloud based accounts rather than the "old" tech of stick an SD card in and update that as required.

The cloud based ones are indeed heading into tablet price territory...........so even they are coming up too expensive for the planned gift.

Might mean a rethink???

I got an 8" Sony one several years ago, portrait & landscape freindly, remote and image quality as crisp as a really crisp thing,
