Hi Guys
I've been buying for the last few months the Digital Photo magazine with the free Photo Shop Tutorial CD :)
The problem I have with all the PS Cd's is; "They will not run the tutorials" :'(
I can open the Cd & explore its contents but when I click on the tutorial it opens a web browser & the web link opens but when I click to play the video nothing happens
I've been onto the Digital Photo site & looked at the Q & A section for my problem, but to no avail.
My PC is running Windows XP.
Have you any suggestion to get me up & running

easiest thing to try would be to open up your media player and drag and drop one of the video files into it...try either media player or quicktime - I'm not sure the format the videos are in so you might need to try both

From the CD:-

"Microsoft Windows ships with a movie viewer Windows Media Player that allows you to play AVI files directly from within your browser. However, computers being the way they are, there just aren't two setup the same. You may have installed other software that no longer makes Media Player your default player, or you may have uninstalled it, or you may have changed the AVI file association to some other software. We've had readers that have had newly installed programs automatically change associations without them realising it. To see what program is set to run your AVI videos, browse for them on your CD and then right mouse click on the file and highlight the Open With option. You should see which programs you have set to run the video. If you can, select Windows Media Player as the default option. As a result, we cannot guarantee 100% that the video lessons will play inside our browser in the way that we intended. If you experience problems we suggest you browse the CD until you find the directories video_tutorials\jon_adams\ for Jon Adams' videos, video_tutorials\kingsley_singleton\ for Kingsley Singleton's videos, etc and double click your chosen AVI file from there.. If the AVI files don't play as you would expect, you should check your computer and browser setups (check your Tools, Internet Option, Advanced settings in your browser and make sure you have the play sounds, videos and animations options ticked inside the multimedia section). We will of course try and help you if you have a problem, in which case you should tell us what type of computer you have, what version of Windows, Internet Explorer etc. "

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the advice & I can now run manually the tutorials with Quick Time Player 7.3.1 but not with Windows Media Player.
I'm running on my Amilo Pro laptop Windows XP, Explorer7
Regards,
Mike

media player won't play .avi files nativley - you'll need a codec to do this. If they play OK in Quicktime though then probably best not to mess if you're unsure!
