Digital Medium Format Thread

Here are a couple from this week's photowalk on Dartmoor again with the 20-35mm, 2 particularly challenging subjects ideal for that wide end as they both are shot from very ticht spaces on the tripod.

This one is The Devil's Frying Pan on top of Great Mis Tor.

This one is a shot of Fices Well in the old Prison Newtakes, shot from the top of the steps into the walled area.

Went into London today to pick up an XCD 80mm I bought on ebay, whilst there took the 38V for a little spin.

Will shoot some live music tonight

was a bit drunk, took 0.5 second handheld exposures - and merged 4 of them in photoshop, moving some around to fill the sky better

The AF on the 38V and X2D is faster than ever, but still I would not rely on it for unrepeatable moments like the kiss during a ceremony or the bride's father seeing her in her dress for the first time.

But when I am 'off-duty' and enjoying the wedding evening, I put away my Sony A1 cameras and got out the X2D. It did well on the dance floor to obtain AF, sure I miss some shots but there's plenty to choose from.

Gutted, I'm not going to be ready in time for these deals. Although after seeing an example of the 50SII EVF I think I want to do more research.

If you start taking into account the savings with the trade in on your existing kit, I'm sure with some Man-Maths you can make it work. Even if the trade in's are down on your expectations, you may still be able to make an overall saving, due to teh discount levels on the GFX kit.

BTW I've not noticed EVF refresh issues with the 50S or my friends 50SII, it maybe just one of those things some peopel see like rainbows on DLP projectors. Get yourself to a store and have a look for yourself.

Aye, I'm working on it. Just have to be sure that I'll get out and use it. Is the 35-70 any good?

The EVF thing I saw for myself in an example video another member sent me. It was rather obvious unfortunately.

The 35-70 isn’t bad and certainly decent F8 onwards. For just over £400 it is a steal

With regard to the EVF, remember the video will scan at one rate and the EVF is at another rate, so the video may reinforce the effect, which may not be obvious to all eyes!! But the again once seen never unseen
