GFX 100s + pentax 645 120mm macro

Lovely detail. Out of interest, could I ask why you shot this at ISO 8000 if presumably in a controlled environment? (unless it wasn't)

Quick question for Fujifilm owners; does the camera come when new with an image program to convert RAW into TIFF after tweaking? If not what do you use.

Asking for a friend

There's a free version of Capture One for Fuji, that's what I use for my GFX100RF.

Having said that, I've just purchased DxO Pure Raw to use with my OM1 MKII so I can also use that for Fuji files, haven't tested it yet.

Thank you. I like free.

Thanks.

I've now talked myself out of buying a GFX 50S as the initial prospects of being able to use it with my old Zeiss lenses is being offset by a two grand plus overall cost for basically 1.5 times the image size of my full frame DCS-1 doing the same thing.

A Pentax 645 with 45-85 f4.5 zoom lens for €500 plus the overall cost of a roll of film professionally developed and scanned at €40 per roll is looking like my best option.

Check the gfx 100s used...
The pentax 645 lens can be adapted and will probably work well. (I have two 645 lenses and am contemplating another (45mm))

Thanks, but I have gone for a film 645 for the reasons given in another post.

TBH Clive if I didn't already have both film and digital MF kits I think I'd opt for the film kit as well if I could only have one. I was fortunate when I was working that I was on good money so could build up these kits, now I'd struggle to justify both financially anyway but I'm still fortunate enough not to need to sell either so I'll keep on enjoying both as long as I can.

If it were like for like in relation to MF sensors being 645 and not having the issues of 35mm lenses being one thing and true 645 lenses being another thing focal length wise I would have bought a Fuji. But, it is too complicated for me and would involve having to buy a mule to carry all the kit. And all for just half as big again as a full frame 35mm sensor.

I do like digital for the free photos used to experiment with viewpoints and exposures, but that is tempered by the nagging thoughts about not taking the time and effort to get it right first time as you have to do these days with film. It is too easy to fall into the Oscar Wilde critisism of photographers being like cod in that they spawn a million eggs in the hope that one makes it to adulthood.

I wish the Pentax had removable backs, but the other options had disadvantages that outweighed that issue. I must say that I was very disappointed with it when I first got it. All the reviews concentrated on the dim viewfinder and loud mirror slap. I remember calling my old ETRS for its gun like report that would scare pigeons off the church roof. And the RB67 if I didn't use the mirror lock startled people too. The Pentax is quite muted compared to those. And the viewfinder is better than I expected. Just need some sunshine and leaves on the trees in order to use it.
