A 'Grey card' is just a Grey card whatever you shoot it with. I use an Expodisc so can't help with sourcing - soz

If it helps, the inside of lowepro bags is supposedly 18% grey, so you can use that instead.
(one of the many usefull things i have learnt on this forum)

Also, if you don't have your grey card with you, you can always meter off of the grass, as this is also similar to 18% grey too...

Anyone read Thom Hogan's interesting article on it NOT being 18% grey?
Actually, 12% grey and hence 1/2 a stop out if using it as a metering tool

Well to be a bit nerdy for a mo, in the olden days all a grey card had to be was 18% in terms of exposure control. So a small colour cast wouldn't make any difference to your meter reading and all would be well.
These days the grey card is also used to set a WB point so it needs to be absolutely RGB neutral.

I got mine with Adobe Photoshop CS3 Book for Digital Photographers (Voices That Matter) by Scott Kelby.

So are the drawstring lens pouches that the smaller Canon L's come in....just checked and they are very close to the inside of my Lowepro stuff.

I believe its used to take a meter reading off to get a correct exposure.
Place it in the scene you are taking a pic from.
Its a way to tell your camera a known value it can use as a point of reference.
I think you can set white balance from it too.
If I'm wrong, I'm sure I will soon be shot
