I remember seeing an action someplace that added a grey border, then by clicking on the border you corrected the colour ballance, anybody know where it is or what it's called??
Thanks.

Thanks for the reply, I know I said grey card but it's actually an action that puts a coloured border on an image, which you then click on to correct the colour balance, I'm not sure exactly how it works, I only saw it once, but I'd guess the border is getting the same cast as the photo somehow, I think it just makes finding a neutral colour easier.
It's for a mates daughter whos just started photography, I have tried showing her the levels trick and the match colour color cast trick, but she's really not getting it at all.

Would it work though?

If you add a border that's 18% grey, then that's already correctly balanced, it doesn't have a colour cast.

With the grey card that's been photographed, you're correcting for the offset to bring it back to 18% grey to remove the cast.

Thats the one, damm I never thought of looking there for it, a big thank you mate.
I'm taking her out today for a shoot at an abandonded village, it'll give her a chance to get some practice shots, then she can try the action tonight when she edits.
Thanks again. Wayne
