Hi all. Just wondering if anyone else has had difficulties with Digital Depot recently?

I have both my D300 and 2.8 70-200 in with them at the moment for a couple of noises to be investigated, but it seems impossible to get any news out of DD about them. The initial call due on "Thursday or Friday" last never happened, and no one could tell me anything other than "we'll call you on Monday" when I tried them Saturday.

By 4pm today I'd got fed up of waiting so tried them again. "Oh I'll look into to it and call you straight back" was todays response. With no call by 5 I tried them on twitter, only to be told that I should call them. Yeah, nice idea, except that when I did they didn't even bother to pick up.

Not Happy Digital Depot. Not happy at all.

Done a quick google & tbh they don't look like a company i'd risk buying from.

I would tend to agree, I think they have already been in administration once before (2008/2009?).

Cheers. I just wondered if it was their non EU `internet` shop.

Didn't they advertise on here at one time, seem to remember someone called Stuart associated with them

I think its a completely different outfit - IIRC at one time digital depot had a notice on theirwebsite warning people that ....online was not part of them.

DD are, or at least used to be, a bricks and mortar shop with 4 or 5 branches - I think lately they are suffering the same downturn problems that got jacobs and jessops

Just had a look through their website and they are pretty sparse with 'in stock' items. I'd have a lot of trouble buying anything I wanted from them. Maybe they have it in the stores and not on their site.

Maybe they are back in problems with cash flow so are having problems getting stock?

I was right in my recollection, they went into administration in October 2008 and appear to now have new owners.

AP news report

Photographic retailer Digital Depot has gone into administration and is up for sale after running into financial problems. However, the firm is still trading and it is 'business as usual' say administrators.

‘We are continuing to trade with a view to finding a buyer. We are going to advertise the company as a going concern to see what interest we can generate,’ said Stephen Silver a manager at London-based accountancy firm Berley, the appointed administrators.

Yeah, DD Stevenage is not to be confused with DD Online.

I've dealt with DD Stevenage quite a bit over the years, and yes they did sponser TP for a while. Stuart move on to pastures new late last year - I suspect the lack of info from them about my equipment wouldn't be happening if Stuart was still there now.

To not bother to call back a long term customer over such a simple though isn't good, and could well have lost them that customer......... :(

Stuart's absence explains a lot! I wasn't aware that he had left. I've tried to contact him asking a few questions about the X100s and was pretty much told to look on the website.

It's a shame because it was one of the few B&M sites I wanted to support.

Sorry to hear this, i dealt with Digi Depot on a few occasions, and after they went to the wall and when Stuart took over, he was a top bloke, always very helpful, i would have to agree, and say it must be due to his departure, with service like this they may well be calling in the receivers again.
