Great service from Digital Depot this week - ordered a Manfrotto Monopod on Sunday night, and it's here with me first thing on Wednesday, perfectly packaged and significantly cheaper than most other retailers - mine was £39.99 as opposed to the £45 - 50 mark put on it by most other stores .

On the other hand, Camera World have let me down this week. I'm in the market for an SB600 flash unit and ordered a second hand one from them on Sunday, only to find that they had already sold it the previous week. This didn't stop them debiting my credit card for £178 on Monday regardless. No emails were received (though the bloke I spoke to said one had been sent), and it took a phone call to the store to find out what was going on. Money is still not back in the account, but it's on its way. It's surprising - I've usually found them okay. Credit to the salesman for trying to flog me an old Nissin flash unit instead :suspect:.

Wish I could say the same, ordered an item from DD via Amazon on the 1st April, today was the last day on estimated dispatch date yet no email to comfirm dispatch!

Had the same problem with cameraworld, ordered a refurbished grip they took the money then the next day emaied to say out of stock

Wouldn't Easter have an effect?

Was ordered a couple of days before and the estimated dispatch was 1st-6th so would guess that would take into account the Easter break.

Will see what happens tomorrow, hoping it's just me being impatient! Normally will by things from a shop as I can't wait but couldn't find the SD Card holder I wanted anywhere local!

Today I finally got an email from Digital Depot (9 days after ordering) to say "sorry, none in stock, should be getting some soon!" No expected delivery date at all.

Not best pleased, the SD Cards I ordered from another source via Amazon arrived today as described.

I'm a big fan of Digital Depot, always had a great service

I generally don't mind delays, they happen but only when kept informed. The lack of communication is what really is winding me up at the mo!

I have to say I was really impressed with Stuart over the purchase of my Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 VC.
Before I bought it he came along to a met we had and let me try a Tamron 18-270VC and I thought that by him bringing along various lenses for people to try was a really nice thing to do.
Granted it could lead to sales but for a small independent to do this really was really impressive.
However I recently email him about the posibilty of trading in my Tamron 18-270VC against a 7D and a Canon 17-55 f/2.8 IS.
I also asked him if he could do price match on a 50D against aother UK company.
I admit I was in two minds which body to get.
He said he would get back to me with prices but he never did.
I ended up buying a Canon 50D and a Canon 24-105L IS f/4 from Kerso.
I knew he wouldn't be able to match Kerso but I would have been happy to pay a bit more as he did the Tamron 17-50 for me at a good price.

I'm not bashing Stuart, he is a nice guy and perhaps he was really busy at the time but I don't send reminder emails to companies when I am ready to pay over £1300 for kit, I just go elsewhere.

Cameraworld were great for me when i bought my EOS kit - which store did you use?

Cameraworld have been great for me in the past. I always use the London store, just off Oxford St. However, on this occasion, I felt it was a bit cheeky to automatically take the money, hold onto it for a few days and then refund it - all without any communication, emails or anything.

It also seems that I'm not the only customer who has had this problem with Camera World's second-hand stock.

Ryan,

Really sorry to hear about this. Can you give me the Amazon order details?

We have a bit of a problem sometimes with Amazon becuase we sometimes have over 3000 products on there. Still no excuse for taking 9 days to reply.

Darran,

Really sorry again for not getting back to you on this things are very hectic at the moment but no excuse. Kerso doesnt charge VAT so his prices will always be 17.5% cheaper than me which on an order of £1300 would be a lot cheaper than me.
