An administrator of Digital Camera Magazine Community has sent the following email
to all users in the Everyone forum group.

Sent From: admin
Subject: Attention fa***ts

Your retarded administrators don't understand that repairing damage is meaningless unless you first fix the problem. This forum is now 4chan's bitch, and we shall do with it as we please. Since your administrators are completely incompetent we have decided to ban them, as well as change their passwords; we're sure you won't mind. We went easy on you this first time, prepare for the worst.

i just checked their website and its been hacked, rather revolting image on homepage. (NSFW)

Just a pity such clever sods can't find something more useful to do - like bring down a major bank :lol:

If you regularly use the same password for all your forums etc I'd think about changing them...

I doubt they're going after individuals, it's somebody that has a problem with DCmag or it's forums or admins.
I thought the e-mail was pretty funny, but I do hope they get it sorted.
 
Or have they just sacked somebody with admin rights? :shrug:

Am I wrong in thinking that DCM is part of Future Publishing - which also publishes .net one of the leading computer magazines in the country and which runs articles on web security??

got the e-mail too but never opened in just incase, i never actually used the site as i found it an extremely unuser friendly forum

As someone who is familiar (in an 'I am aware of them' kind of way) with the 4chaners, don't worry too much, there is nothing sinister going on, no disgruntled employees. Just a bunch of people (Hacker's on Steroids much?) With nothing better to do. This is typical of their SOP. Have a look at some of the other stuff they've done. (and hte youtube video from the Fox news broadcast. It's pretty funny)

As 'they' say:

Not that I'm supporting DCM.... I just hate Hackers (not you Colin) for wasting the world's time and for their more sinister activities.

I didn't say I found what they do funny, but I did find the fox news broadcast to be a good chuckle. A fairly fine example of American sensationalism.
I just thought I'd let people know that this is basically just kids with nothing better to do who are doing it for no other reason than to cause grief and to get a chuckle out of it. No Russian gangsters looking to steal your passwords and such.
That being said, the larger ananoymous community is responsible for LoLCats (the whole thing, not the website). On the other hand, they also brought about the RickRoll.
Not supporting them by any stretch, in fact some of the stuff they do is pretty offensive.
 
well I find it a good chuckle especially after I won a pair of shimano race cycle shoes in mountain bike Uk magazine for an article that I had written and had published and I have never recieved them despite letters and stuff even to this day...so FUTURE PUBLISHING i am officially laughing my Knackers off. 8-)))))
