Do many of you use digital backgrounds. I've been thinking of buying/downloading some digital backgrounds to use for a few portraits, so if you have any opinions on these could you tell me if they're any good. Maybe post a pic for me to see.

do you mean green screens?

I don't know what green screens are but I mean something like this.

A screen that is green...:naughty:

I couldn't resist:p- green is the predominant colour used for keying where essentially you swap one background out for another. Widely used and a quick search for 'chroma key' or even 'green screens' in a search engine will do more justice to the topic than I would even if I typed a couple of pages here.

As for your original question I only use plain backgrounds- grey, black, white and green. I use my own stock pics to replace backgrounds but I don't do it often in photography. I key much more when filming but I'm doing it for different reasons. I think painted backgrounds and things like the one you have posted look absolutely awful. I see no need to pay for digital backgrounds when you can use any photo you have as a background.

That looks like digital scrapbooking stuff. Never used it, but I guess there might be a market for it.
