As title :)

I'm looking at my options for digital backs on my Mamiya RZ67 Pro (NOT Pro II or Pro IID) but struggling to find an adapter plate for it.

Any ideas guys??

Thanks alot

Dan

hey, even I poke my head in here once in a while... :D

and ouch :( assuming you're going to be working with 645 sensors anyway, would it not be cheaper (lenses etc) to move to a 645 body? If you've got a bit to spend, the mamiya AFD645 is LOVELY to work with :)

Na I'm gonna try and retain the 6x7 format of the RZ, at least I can go smaller when I want to with a 645 back, or digital back, where if I get a 645 body I'll lose out on the big 6x7 negatives.

ah fair... an adapter to put a hasselblad mount phase one back on the rz67 pro 2... bargain at £500.... D:

Thats the thing, I don't have a ProII. I have the older, Pro. That's why I'm struggling to find an adapter ;)

that wasnt the expensive bit, a good quality back will cost you £££££

Trust me it won't be a shock I'm quite familiar with backs, just not on my own camera :)

And possibly spend almost as much as a H4D-31 or 645D for a 50MP back that really is only good at low ISO and the those types of shots with a fraction of the integration, features and versatility a MFD has?

Sorry I really don't understand what you're getting at?

I don't know what you are looking at for your system but a CFV-39 digital back (39MP) for my Hasselblad 500C/M costs $13,000 USD ($16,000 for CFV-50). It performs its best at ISO50 (has issues at higher ISO), the metering sounds practically trial and error and limited digital features. So let's say I buck up that much money to turn my 500C/M into a digital camera and I find myself limited to landscapes, stills and alike.

But for the same price I can get a H4D-31 that has a sophisticated auto focus that can automatically refocus on the eyes you locked onto after you repositioned the camera for an off-center framing, fully integrated, better higher ISO performance many more features you expect from a digital plus you can shoot the camera under a wider variety of situations.

For me, the digital back option is too much money for the specialized situations it can shoot well. Now if they made the darn things a stepping stone to a MFD camera by offering it at tangible price, I love to have one.

Hi Tuco

Basically, I'm only looking for a digital back to use as a digital polaroid back. I'd quite happily use a 2nd hand H20 Phase back, even a H10 if I need to. The main purpose of the back, is simply to produce instant feedback to assist me with setting up shots and confirming lighting set ups. I mainly shoot with flash mixed with ambient so it's much easier to get digital feedback.

As far as the results go....I'm more than happy with the 6x7 film negatives. I actually prefer to "look" of film and the tonality. Even compared to what I could produce with a H4D-31, I'm aware of it's features such as true focus, but essentially it's a crop sensor 645 format, and to all intents and purposes, it's not THAT much larger sensor area than a FF 35mm digital...

I am hoping for a nice little windfall to fund a Phase One P65+ back, why? They are almost FF 6x4.5 (1mm short) and they can be rotated for either portrait or landscape images. Trouble I though they are about £25,000 plus vat at the moment.

One of the "true" medium format digital backs, good choice! :)

Why a P65+ over one of the newer IQ backs? Either way..I'm extremely jealous lol.

Wanna sell me your H10 back if you do lol

I've just offered to lend it to you on the other thread.

The P65+ is only a bit of a dream at the moment, reason for that over the IQ backs is purely down to cost, they are even more expensive.
