difference between two benro ball heads?

B1 load capacity = 12kg
IB1 load capacity = 7.8 kg
B1 weight = 400g
IB1 weight = 380
B1 height 56mm wide ×90mm high
IB1 height 52mm wide x 96 mm high
Thanks the width is quite usefull. I probably didn’t work it right. Is the blue version a newer version of the B1 or are they just difference model ranges?

Different ranges. Check out the Benro brochure - http://benroeu.com/portals/0/files/benro_photo_brochure_lores.pdf - the B series are on page 45 and the IB series are on page 48.
Thank Stuart, I will take a look. That’s answered my questions, the IBs are magnesium whilst the B are aluminium and have a higher load rating for the same size. Looks like the B0s could be a potential option.

Are you thinking of replacing your uniqball then Rob.?
No, I’m just researching lightweight options as the uniqball and tripod add up to just under 3kg. I’m thinking of a lighter tripod (around 1.5kg) for landscapes where I’m walking miles up hills/mountains.

If you can get hold of an Arca-Swiss P0 to try, it's my favourite walkabout tripod head by a country mile. Light, very strong, excellent friction adjustment and precision. Don't be put off by the unusual looks (or the price ;)).

Sorry I have no idea on the Benro heads.

However, if you can find one, the Triopo RS2 or RS3 may fit the bill. I use the RS3 as my lightweight head. With the addition of an Arca type clamp it is a bit over 300 grams. The Triopo RS series are very simple heads with only one control (lever) but my RS3 has the most solid lockup of any ball head that I have tried and mine was only £30! It is also the smoothest operating of any ball head that I have owned/tried out.

I think they may now be discontinued as I am struggling to find them on the web which is a pity. I cannot tell you what the RS3 version will adequately hold as my 4 series Gitzo tripod is too bendy and my Canon 800 F5.6 L IS is too light. Yes I am being serious. This is so small and light it is on my "Traveller" tripod.
