About ten minutes ago I was on my way back home on the A10 and just pootling along when two 5 series BMW's and an Audi came hammering past all loaded up with some tasty looking lumps inside them. As we approached a roundabout the lead beemer swerved in front of a van and everyone piled out of all three cars with what looked like Heckler MP-5's drawn and a few pistols as well. Loads of screaming and shouting ensued and two guys were dragged from the van, trussed up and thrown into the back of the cars. Obviously the traffic had stopped and all this was happening right in front of me (I was two cars behind the van) and I didn't have my bloody camera as I'd only popped out for ten minutes. :bang:

They looked like serious dudes so I'm presuming something like the Flying Squad, they were very efficient and within about 5 minutes everyone was gone including the van!

Lesson learnt - always. always carry a camera. :(

Bloody Hell Colin! Are you sure that they were Police?

That will teach you to always have a camera with you.

Chris :)

They were the police, baseball caps and bodyarmour and you definitely wouldn't want to mess with them!

I wonder if you witnessed "the Regiment" in action!?

My money's on SO19. Depends who the guys in the van were I suppose. Best keep eyes on the news!

Rumours has it, the two dudes in the van managed to get their hands on the upcoming D4 and D4x .. Nikon hired a hit-squad to track them down :p

I hope you realise that carrying a camera with you is mandatory 24/7!

Maybe when you shot them ........ they shot you ?????

Me thinks best not to pull camera out when subject has a gun !!!!

hahahahaha!

As a member of the media, I swore to never leave home without a camera, even if it is just a P&S. The one time I failed to do this I was heading home from a pub, and there was a wreck right in front of me. :nono: Never again will I make THAT mistake.

Shame that hacker a real shame :(mind you 2 cars behind and pointing your big long one at armed cops would have been a bit nerve racking (but fun:D). Mobile not got a camera? i always take mine with me and on the odd occasion i do forget/just nipping round the chippy i always have my mobile...as proved you just never know when your gonna need it.

If it was 'the regiment' i'm guessing they wouldn't take too kindly to having their faces captured on camera. Maybe for the best, certainly disappointing though!

Probably one of those cases where the new anti terror legislation regarding photographing serving police officers would apply!

Argh! How frustrating! Must have been amazing to see it happen all the same though. Had you have taken your camera gear with you it probably would never have happened! Sods law and all!

Unlucky mate, you wont make the same mistake again and I'm sure it would take a mistake like that on my part to learn the same lesson.

That was the really frustrating part, because I'd just nipped out I left my iPhone at home and just took my work mobile with me which doesn't have a camera. :bang:

It was pretty impressive to watch though. :D

All sounds a little "hairy" to me Colin
glad that the Op all went smoothly though, and no-one ( that shouldn't get) got hurt

Which end of the A10? I drive there every day to work, have witnessed a few things on there, but nothing quite as exciting sounding as that! lol

I think perhaps it best you did leave your camera at home. These guys would not be best pleased with you snapping away. and believe me they would have noticed you. "They see all".

Wowz0rs!!

On a serious note this does sound "cool", shame there's no pictures. I wonder if these were terrorists!

Unlikely, on two counts.

1. They were very noisy.
2. It took the thick end of 5 minutes to wrap it up.

come stay with us a weekend colin and bring your camera if you want action like this as we darent shoot it or we will get shot.....Scunthorpe lol

the closest ever encounter was in gatwick airport years and years ago, even before 9/11. saw a bunch of armed police with MP5s, i was very jealous as i was a big fan of Counter Strike at the time, and MP5s were one of my favourites (spray and prayer).

MP5s are hard to come by, but std issue for Met/so19 ect. At least, so I'm told.

MP5's and G36's are pretty much standard issue for pretty much most of the UKs police armed response and Tactical Firearms teams.

EDIT - been beaten to it!

It was a tongue in cheek comment to be honest. Even if it were regiment guys, we'd never know it.
