Did or does the Nikon 80-200 f2.8 AF D come with a tri pod collar as standard?

Yes
I've seen a few of these for sale and some have a tri pod collar and some don't. Were they supplied with one new? Thanks in advance.

I might be talking out of the wrong orifice here, but doesn't it depend on the version?
I didn't think the push-pull one had a collar, and I believe it did eventually have the D designation.

The D version was the one he was asking about so.....

I wish I could remove the tripod collar on mine, never use it. :bonk:

Ooo I've just bought one today :) Mine has a collar and its the NON push pull version.

How is that different to what has already been said?

Congrats btw, lovely lenses. :) I was tempted with the AF-S version that MPB have for sale....

The AF-S version would have been nice but then the price is going upwards. 70/80-200 f2.8 lenses are creeping upward. The new version of the 70-200 is nearly £2000

The AF-S at MPB was £699.

That's not bad really when you consider the price the 70-200 lenses are going up to. I got a good AF for £500, I would have preferred the AFS but I have spent far too much recently to afford it :D If I can next summer I might upgrade the 80-200 to a AFS70-200 but would need to see them against each other to justify the difference in price.

yep
