Diat Tripod

Looks like another far east Gitzo clone to me, you pays your money you takes your chances

Plenty of other reasonably priced tripods around that have had actual user reviews, Redsnapper always seem popular on here

Seeing as you are using it to support a few hundred quids worth of gear it's not worth scrimping on or at least I don't think so. Also have to consider it might flap about like the proverbial door in a storm and ruin your photos

So many people economise on this very important bit of kit and most end up paying more in the long run, buy well first time to save yourself cash and hassle. Decent head is also required otherwise you are defeating the object, sorry to go on, only trying to give good advice

Thanks for the reply. I was kinda expecting that sort of response if I'm honest. I hadn't really looked at Redsnapper til you said it, and for an extra £20+ I can get a "kit" that looks like it could be decent.

Pretty sure Redsnapper give 10% discount for TP members, lots of people rate them and might be worth doing a search for more information

Hi there just thought id shed some light on the diat cm294 tripod, i bought one and my friends and i compared the gitzo , the giottos vitruvian side by side and we all decided that they are all identical NO and i mean NO difference at all , the badge is the only difference even when we looked at the spec lists all the specs are the same some of the so called top makes just buy there stock from manufacturers in china etc and simply add there name to it its common practice now and we all pay the price for a badge. and before some one posts it i know gitzo do make tripods etc but only there very top of the range hope this helps

sorry i forgot to mention three legged thing is using the same tripod , as for how good the diat is it is a fantastic tripod , its light , folds up and down VERY smoothly and is very compact to carry, it also comes with everything one would want and it also has a lovely high quality bag to keep every thing together , as an owner of large gitzo and manfrotto tripods i have no hesitation in recommending this tripod as its fantastic quality ,and a great price ,it is also very stable even with something as heavy as a canon mk4 and a 100-400is on top .

Having looked at James' profile, it would appear that he has not been on the forum for a while, so is unlikely to read this post.

If anyone else has a DIAT tripod, feedback/comments would be appreciated.
