Diagonal fisheye lens?

Ahh a fish eye is not what I need lol, I want something with a better zoom then my kit 18-70mm and something that can take better pics in lower light conditions... any suggestions?

Sorry should of mentioned its for Sony A350 but budget is around £200 max I think might be slightly higher if I get carried away lol

The Sigma 17-70mm has a faster aperture of 2.8-4.5, also has the bonus of having macro. Otherwise the Tamron 17-50mm 2.8 gets great reviews (very sharp), I think that's a little more than £200 though.

The sigma lens is actually cheaper from warehouseexpress but just need to a bit of pointing in the right direction...

Its either the:
Sigma 17-70mm 17-70 f/2.8-4.5 f2.8-4.5
Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di II

Dont want to keep starting new threads but is there a newbies guide to lenses and what all the numbers mean etc.?

If it was me personally, I'd go for the Tamron hands down. You've got the constant f/2.8 throughout the whole zoom range, which will be better in low light situations. I don't think anything will match it for sharpness either.

As for buying from outside the EU, beware of customs tax and VAT you may have to pay. And as 'Fox said, the warranty may not be honoured.

Thanks for the advice Claire purchased myself a copy of The Complete Guide to Sony's Alpha 300 and 350 Digital SLR Cameras by Gary Friedman so have a lot of reading and learning to do and will be looking to get a new lens soon :D

Another vote for the Tamron, a friend of mine has one and its lovley.

Ive got the Sigma 24-70 f2.8, its a real beast and good ones are sharp as but the Tamron is full of character and i much prefer the images from it..
