Went to devon (Bideford) for 4 nights thursday till monday with the family. On Friday we searched for places around bideford then on Saturday.... Lundy Island. Dreadfull time for an island trip. Next time i'll go by helicopter in the winter. Couldn't take many photos because of the weather and they weren't very good either due to the weather. Could only see for about 40m ahead of you making it impossible to find the old lighthouse which we were trying to find. Lundy Island is a really nice place but not on a bad day. Wen't to clovelly too, it also rained then, lovely place again but not on a bad day. Have any of you chosen such a bad time to go to Devon? Now i know why people go abroad for holidays... :bonk:

North Devon is the Manchester of the South. Weatherwise!

I lived near Hartland for four years, worked on Lundy, at Clovelly and all along Bideford Bay...I know the weather very well :D

Yeh, Weather isn't always great down there i realised. We got a few sunny times but it poured again when we visited Stonehenge on the way home...

Yup, it's the vast numbers of the great unwashed who come down 'ere and sweat into the atmosphere. That sweat rises to colder elevations, condenses and rains down upon them (and us poor locals!). Not to mention all the water vapour pouring out of the exhausts of vehicles stuck behind the incompetent caravan towers who can't reverse back to a passing place to let an equally incompetent one coming from the opposite direction past.

im going to south devon (dawlish area) in september, hope the weather is nice for at least a couple of days!
