Developing film help

I just developed some Hp5 and looking at it drying is covert in blue particle ,just checks the real and it as some on it to.

The only thing I can think about is when I washed the film the water was to hot or I started to use photoblog and I put to much.
It's really weird and never append to me before.
Anyone as any idea what ave I done wrong.
The negs look normal .

Wonder if i put the film in the reel wrongly

I've never seen anything like that when developing film, and I doubt it was caused by putting it on the reel wrongly as you say the negs look normal otherwise. It might be worth re-rinsing the whole film to see if it washes off.

Really not sure to be honest - was hoping someone else might chime in with their experiences, but maybe it's never happened to anyone else You say you used "photoblog" - what do you mean by that? If it's some sort of post-development cleaning product it may have been the culprit.

Ilfotol sorry,searched on the web and couldn't find anything nether.
The groove of the reel were full of that grainy stuff and I could feel grainy stuff on the film.
. Badly mix chemical or physical stuff in the tank like paper before i put the reel ......

I think I found my problem, is when I ad Ilfotol at the end of the wash that grainy stuff appears.

Yes it as washed off but wonder what was the stuff.

Was it 120 film? If so, it would have had an anti halation layer on the back. Usually green, blue or purple. This usually washes off in the pre-rinse (if you use one) or the developer and is rarely left behind after all the development stages have finished.

it was 35mm film and the stuff was of a blue colour :bang:

35mm film has the anti-halation layer too

Developed some Hp5 today and i made sure to do a pre-rince and to do a longer wash at the end.Do you always wash the film before putting the developer in?

I give it a pre-soak yes, but not everybody does.

I have just looked at Ilford's data sheets for Pan F, FP4+, HP5+, Delta 100 and Delta 400 all have an anti halation layer for 120 and sheet film but not 35mm

Delta 3200 apparently doesn't have an AH layer in any format (or they forgot to mention it).

The SFX data sheet says:

SFX 200 is coated on 0.125mm/5-mil grey acetate base
which gives good halation protection. SFX 200 35mm

It is my understanding that all (or most) 35mm films have a tinted base and sheet and 120 film have an AH layer.

That's interesting, although i have only used PanF in both 120 and 35mm and havent devved them for a long time.
