Yep, must say I'm liking it lots!

I've seen all but the most recent episode and all they seem to find are people with buried secrets rather than any actual treasure. I have enjoyed it so far and find it a nice gentle comedy.

The best TV programme I've seen this year has to be 'Marvellous' also starring Toby Jones.

Yeah I've really enjoyed it. And the welsh girl the mole fills her skinny jeans rather nicely too.

Yes, it is very good; Toby Jones is brilliant, and 'Marvellous' really was marvellous.

:agree: Detectorists is a quintessential British comedy I think, can be quite deep and poignant at times but it's good gentle humour.
I reckon Toby Jones is an outstanding and underrated actor, there'll be a few BAFTA's for Marvelous at the next awards.

You should see her in Luther then...

I'm always in two minds about here because she looks like my ex wife!

Yeah I remember seeing her in it before. I dont really watch it though. Is she in it a lot? Shes in peaky blinders too.

the series is quiet funny ,the backbiting ,backstabbing ,treachery and sheer greed that goes on in the actual hobby though is totally unreal .remember that some items which are entirely pocketable can be worth as much as a canon 1DX ,i used to reckon on a decent find every hour and a good find once a week ,and a mega find every few weeks .the trouble is that once you find it you can't replace it so eventually a good site becomes barren .and searchable land that a farmer will permit you to search legally becomes a ever decreasing commodity

What you say Jeff has a ring of truth and it sounds like you speak from experience. My criticism of the series so far would be that it's more concerned with relationships than any metal detecting.

someone called it "gentle humour" ... that pretty much sums it up

i speak from 30 years of experience in it ,the only reason i gave up was a bad fall and a arm broken in 5 places left it uncomfortable to dig .then photography took over as well both hobbies being time consuming to boot ,and having done what i aspired to in detecting and found more than my fair share of treasure over the years it was time for a change . my only real regret was back in the 70's i had the opportunity to invest in mel fishers quest to find the atocha and regrettably turned it down .s*** happens

I think it's great and posted something similar on the naim forum. I can't help but feel that it holds a strong appeal to those not only keen on music reproduction and on photography, but those who post on related forums too...

Yehhhhhh!

That Mackenzie Crook is a bright fella, I enjoyed the series.

I had no idea this was on. There's only 5 on iplayer. What happened in the first ep?

.

I've seen that but I was hoping for a more in depth summary of the first ep :)

It'll be repeated I'm sure :)
