hello i have two accounts on my computer if i install soft wear and a shortcut it also puts a short cut on the other account how can i stop this:shrug:

Sometimes theres an option to install the program just for your account or all users.

If not, then dont choose the option to place a shortcut on the desktop.

If theres neither..then not much you can do that i know of, other than logging into the other account and deleting the shortcuts manually.

:)

don't log in to the other account? :D

:coat:

you can just delete the shortcut icon and it leaves the program intact

You need to change the location you are creating shortcuts. You're currently making them to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop when you need to make them to C:\Documents and Settings\<USER NAME>\Desktop

If this is done during an installation you normally need to alter where is puts the program on the start menu, so C:\Documents and Settings\<USER NAME>\Start Menu\Programs instead of C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs

can you explain how to do it please:clap:

To amend anything that is already installed you just need to move the folder/application from the All Users section to the section for the particular user you want to have it.

Normally when installing software it will ask you where to install the application to (which I would recommend always leaving as default) and then you are normally asked if you would like it to appear in your start menu and if you do where, it is at this stage you should ensure that it is installing to your User Name not All Users.

I'll be back on my home PC Sunday evening or Monday evening at the latest; I can sort out some screen shots and a more detailed step by step guide for you if you'd like
