Just out of interest who uses a desk top and who uses a lap top for editing:shrug:

Me - Desktop

Either, depends whether in the lounge or the office.

Hi Nicki, I use a laptop, but mainly because of my disabilities, if I am confined to bed then its easier to move a laptop around and with wireless internet its ideal.

Desktop

desktop although hoping to move to laptop.

Actually AT a wedding laptop and Lightroom, hook it up to a big LCD for a slideshow.

For backups, editing, and all the business "stuff" Honking great desktop with twin screens :) Yes I am crosseyed!

Both, I have a macbook pro and a mac pro. Both are quite powerful machines but the mac pro has the edge (although I am looking at getting a new i7 Macbook pro 8Gb/500gb to replace my current 17" Core2duo one :) £1548+vat inc apple care with student disc from £2300!!!!).

I just use which ever is easiest at the time....

Currently a 4yo Tosh laptop in a docking station linked up to a hoofing monitor and external hard drives, mouse etc; however I'm looking at upgrading to a quad workstation, and just using the laptop for mobile stuff (it's starting to clunk a bit during large processing batches, the poor old dear! :) ) .

95% is done on my laptop due to it being more portable with higher spec.

laptop, couldn't live without it, I'd like a desktop but it can't be used on location so is a little lower down the priority list atm

I much prefer using my desktop, bigger, better screens, oodles more power etc. I use my laptop if I really have to but it's an unpleasant experience.

A lot of it is down to the screen my laptop has a 1920x1200 anti glare screen that is just superb. Not cheap though!

That's fair enough, my laptop is pretty garbage, one of my desktop screens is a bit pants too though but at least one is nice. I really don't like using mousepads either, you can use a plug in one obviously but if I'm going to do that I can just go sit at my desktop.

Since I got a Mac laptop I've never turned my desktop PC on in 9 months

Laptop & wouldn't go back to a desk top - it's so versatile - I have 17.5 screen and have no problems at all.

I don't like the mouse pad ***' so use a wireless mouse in front of the keyboard works so well for me.
