Did anyone just watch that, he seems to have just predicted all 6 lottery numbers on live TV , it's a bloody clever trick, the draw was live on the BBC shown on a TV in the studio where Derren was.

I watched them draw 6 balls on live tv, he turned round his prediction balls and there they were, all 6 correct :shrug:
 
The guy is amazing, but he'd be the first to tell you it's a setup. Problem is that once he's explained a trick to you and you're feeling confident he doesn't have mystical powers he goes and does something else to leave you wondering.
 
he said its a trick of misdirection, so somehow he changed the balls without us noticing

otherwise... he would a) have shown the numbers from the start b) be a millionaire :)
 
That was amazing, doubt he is never going to reveal his secrets. Just going to leave everyone wondering how he managed it and then go and do something else that will make peoples jews drop yet again.

If he had revealed the numbers BEFORE THE DRAW THEN THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY CLEVER BUT AS HE DID IT, JUST AFTER THE NUMBERS WERE CALLED, KINDA MAKES IT A PRETTY ORDINARY THOUGH VERY CLEVER TRICK. aLSO WAS THE LOTTERY REALLY LIVE OR DELAYED IN THE STUDIO A BIT? dID ANYONE FLICK TO THE bbc TO SEE IF IT REALLY WAS SIMULTANEOUS? sTOOPID CAPS LOCK...:mutter:
 
One thing I know for sure, I'll be watching the program on Friday night, 'cause if he does reveal how he did it, it'll be one hell of a trick to impress the in-laws with lol :D

Strongly suspect he might already be millionaire already - several times over
 
Friday will be fun and I bet the viewing figures will be massive. The thing to remember though is with DB the explanation is as likely to be part the misdirection as any other part of his routine. I've seen him live and lots of his act revolves around convincing you you are seeing a feat of say cold reading, when it is actually slight of hand.

If you watch in high quality slow mo the ball on the far left changes position. Most people are speculating that a green screen or whatever it's called was inserted in front of the balls at some point while the balls were changed. I'd rather not know tbh though lol.

he doesnt do camera tricks though.. that just takes the art out of it all.
i mean they could have just super imposed the right numbers on the balls, but that would have been no fun.
 
That's why I'm questioning it as well, I'd like there to be more to it than that. I guess it could be another example of misdirection - i.e. the balls moving and the change in wall brightness were done on purpose. I guess we will (may) find out on Friday. :)

It is delayed very slightly, Sky has the biggest lag, thats compared to watching it from the Internet like i was. But saying no more, looking forward to explaination to night.

His second show after that was also pretty good.
 
I vote for light projection at the bottom of the stand that can change the numbers that are on the balls.. they numbers are not written on them at all, just a trick of light and mirrors!! ;)
 
I think it's nothing to do with camera tricks. Knowing derren brown I think he would of some how convince us to see whatever numbers came out on the night. I think he has probably done us all over in some subliminal way. Probably hidden numbers or words in those backwards adverts we have been seeing for weeks now. That's the sort of thing he does, gets in your head.

I've seen him live and he is great to be honest.
 
i watched it gain today
two things i reckon have something to do with it
1) having his hand over his face when they read the numbers out on the beeb
2) that big sheet of card he writes the numbers on
 
Silly question but has anyone confirmed that they were actually the numbers drawn last night? I mean it couldn't be as simple as him playing an old lottery draw could it?

I've been reliably informed he learnt his tricks of deception, slight of hand, mis-direction and falsification of the truth from Tony Blair! A co-student (and brother) was Gordon Brown who believed he passed the course and has used his skill on numerous occasions to convince others of his extreme skill in the art of macrami, knitting and of course the ultimate ............. Xtreme cake decoration .....

You see that's the thing, I've also seen him live and what I learned from that is that what he might tell you is suggestion, mind-reading, whatever, actually has a much more simple explanation. The key to making the tricks so good is making the viewer think it is a staggering piece of suggestion and mind control when the same outcome can be achieved by rather basic, if well executed, slight of hand. Its all miss direction.
 
Well he was wanting you to believe he fixed the drawer. Don't think he could have done that because camelot would have been all over security as they knew he was attempting a stunt.

The other version of collective thought deciding the outcome of random events is a big pile of steaming BS.

I still believe it was simple misdirection and trickery - he didn't reveal his guess balls until after the official lottery balls had come out. however he did it. The numbers on his balls went on at the last minute AFTER the official drawer. The whole legal thing about not showing the numbers before the BBC was all lies.
 
he could have shown the prdicted numbers going in the tube, that would have sealed it...as it is, it leaves you wondering..did they really do it? did he fake it? was it trick photography. guess we wont ever know.
 
it was a split screen. the left half of the picture was frozen while the balls where changed.

Tonight's show was very poor I though. I knew he wouldn't say how it was really done, but I thought he'd make a better job of the 'fake' explanation. The wisdom of crowds thing only works with events it is possible to have knowledge about, it then just combines everyone's bit of knowledge to get the best guess.
 
i don't buy the split screen exactly - if you look at the footage it was from a shaky hand held camera, it was not fixed. It would have been very difficult to do a split screen when the camera was constantly moving, not much just a little left and up and down etc. Enough to make split screen too awkward.

the numbers definately made it to the balls after the draw otherwise he'd have revealed them before the draw if he had them right.
 
Yeah that seems to be what the net is saying Ian, camera fixed, shake applied after.

There is a point when he is reading out what he has written on the card when the far left ball moves fractionally upwards. This is the point when the left side of the picture is unfrozen.

Mouse under the cup = slight of hand. Quite liked the coin trick though.

Fix the draw - no chance, he would be arrested. Camelot know how he has done it, to ensure it is legal, but won't tell cos this will increase sales.

It was rigged, with the numbers on the balls changed. I would have been more impressed if they had shown the case which had the balls 1-49 in it in front of the group of 23, with the relevant numbers missing, with those 23 people guarding it so we knew it wasn't rigged.

What am I saying, all his stuff is rigged!!

very disappointing. i though he was going to actually explain it.

all he did was talk nonsense..
if you did the same thing he did on a sat night, how do you know which of the draws (i think there is 4 on a sat??) the numbers are going to come up in?

I think the whole predicting the lottery was an elaborate setup and just misdirection to get the nation into a suggestible mindset. a big hint was when he asked that guy who couldnt get the hang of writing the numbers to stop, because that guy was less suggestible. I think his ultimate trick/stunt will be a lot bigger and all of this is just buildup. He didnt explain how he did it in a believable way, so the nation believes it is some mystic powers. Once we start accepting that on some level mystical powers were at work, then we are prime for his ultimate finale. Another hint was his closing remarks, in which he indirectly admitted it was fake. We know he will lie in the buildup of a trick, like with the mouse and the knife, so he could have shown the numbers with some digital trickery and lied about it as part of him setting us up.
 
At the end of the day .......

THERE IS NO WAY YOU CAN PREDICT RANDOM NUMBERS !

You just cant do it.
