Derbyshire Places to Photograph

1989 my wife and I had a weeks holiday in Sparrowpit Derbyshire, this summer we are hoping to return to the old cottage we stayed in, which i understand is still availible.

Can anyone name some good places to photograph in the area , looking for mainly countryside if possible.


I asked this question(not here) last year but have lost all the replies.This time i will print them out, thats assuming i get some...

In a word...Everywhere!

Couple of suggesions here

You really can't go wrong in the Peak District, the options are endless.

Cubar Edge, Kinder Scout, Owler Tor, Padley Gorge near Hathersage.
Chatworth House

Eyam where the plague came up from London nice village good pub and tea shop.

Ladybower/derwent water, Castleton, Wynatts pass, dovedale, Lathkill dale, monsal dale plus all the above

Sparrowpit is very near Mam Tor - see my Flickr Pages for shots of that.

There is also the many caves in the area and what everyone else has said, it's also not far from Lyme Park and a couple of other NT places worth going.

All of the above plus Stanage edge and carsington water.

Already a few excellent spots mentioned - as you are in Sparrowpit you're already on the doorstep of one of the best places - Castleton & it's surrounding hills.

If you fancy a little drive the lesser visited areas around Butterton, Longnor & Pilsley are well worth seeing

Haddon Hall near Bakewell is well worth a visit too

Would like to explore the area a bit more. Having lived on the doorstep for years i've never really got round to seeing it. Mam Tor was stunning though, i'm going to go back soon I think.

Not too far away - definitely some on Stanton Moor, near Birchover

Just a few place to visit which are very close to where you will be.

The blackline is a walk you can take across the tops from Mam tor from what I remember its about 11 miles but you get fantastic views looking over to Kinder and down on the villages of Hope and Castleton

You could also take a trip to ladybower resevoir again great views and its also where the dam busters flew

Also give Winnats Pass a look, you dont get the scale of things from the satallite but the road is somthing like a 1/4 or 1/3 gradient.
