I like abstracts with a hint of what it might be but this has me beat, I like the colour though.
Thanks Alby. It's actually a photo of a couple of clematis flowers plus leaves. I then took a one pixel slice and stretched it to fit the frame. It's the first time I've tried this and was pleased with the result.I like abstracts with a hint of what it might be but this has me beat, I like the colour though.
Thanks Andy. We had a play with one of these at Focus and almost bought one there and then.Abstract indeed.
Great colours and I really like the lines. The only very dynamic photograph.
Lensbaby....Had my eye on one if these. Where did you get it from???
Cheers.
Thanks the for comments Lizhello Peter i'm back in the game, temperature i think is bang on theme and i agree the angle allows the background to give the photograph depth.
Abstract is very simple and i like it a lot
Where did you come from?Hi Peter, I'm playing catch up, having missed the last 10 weeks so I apologise for not going through all the submissions from previous weeks.
Abstract - loving that shot and the colours are just spot on
Temperature - nice crisp shot and bang on theme too.
Authority - again bang on theme and really nice colours on that shot
Random - loving the dof on that shot![]()

Where did you come from?![]()

Thanks Summerminimalist and abstract, just 2 of my loves, loving it![]()
tell me about it

Thanks Sarah. Yep definitely worth a gohi Peter, as you know already I really like this shot - its bright and simple!!
A good idea which I must try sometime!!![]()
Thanks Allan. Looks like Mark beaten me to the explanation below.Abstract is very striking having just read what you put I still have no idea how you achieved it but![]()
Cheers DK. It was the original image that didn't work hence hijacking it to create this one.Peter... If that 'Isn't working' cant wait to see what you think does work, I think that's a great image, really like it... what ever it is
Thanks Mark. I took inspiration from an image I saw on here a couple of months ago of a bluebell wood. That one had lots and lots of lines due to all the flower heads. Mine was of two flowers hence the broader stripes.Abstract is great Peter. I've tried this technique a couple of times myself, and it's harder than you'd think! Some pictures, like yours, create interesting results, others just look a mess! I've note really worked out what makes the difference, but guess it's to do with not having to many or too few colours.
Thanks for the kind words AlanHi Peter.
Bit behind so sorry for late comments.
Random - good use of dof but I would have liked to have seen a bit more in focus. really good colour rendition. Not sure that I would have got connection to theme without the explanation as I know *** about computer bits
Temperature - simple and on theme. Like the oof right hand side but the trunk showing is a bit too dominant for me and would have preferred to have seen more tracery type branches and leaves.
Abstract - lovely. Very clever technique. Like the variation in the thickness of the lines and the colours![]()
Thanks LynneHi ya
have no idea how you take a pixel slice & fill the frame with it but I'm liking the result..... very asbtract, great colors ....liking it a lot![]()
Rather than a crop you can use the Single Row or Single Column Marquee Tool that creates you a single pixel strip and then stretch it from there. The advantage of this technique means that you can select the strip from any diagonal line rather than just a horizontal or vertical strip. You are absolutely right about getting the right slice though. I played with a few attempts before getting just the right line through the two flower heads.Lynne, you crop the image to 1px high x original width, then resize to original height by original width. The technique is easy, it's choosing a good image to work with it, and the right slice to take, that's not, and that's why Peter's done so well.
Thanks for the feedback Alex.Excellent shot, I really like the colours, the simplicity of it. Another one that I could see on a wall somewhere.
Bang on theme!

Thanks MarshaOoo I like this Peter, it appeals to my OCD for all things straight! The colours are lovely too![]()
See post 496 above. Let me know and I can talk you through it in more detail if you want. You did what to a pixel?
Thanks for all the comments JohnPeter, I didnt realise I was so far behind with comments.
I love your Short (specsavers) Well framed and shot
Flight, Plain and simple close up enhanced by raindrops, good take on theme
Authority, like the angle and composition
Leave, works for me and like crossing the dates off to give expectation of time off.
Random. The idea for the theme is great but I find the DOF a bit too tight
Temperature, On theme and well shot. Like the way this is framed to emphasise reading taken in shade of a tree
Abstract. Says so to me, lovely colours and just the right amount of blur. Dont think Ill be choosing this to decorate my hallway though.
Thanks RobertGreat abstract shot.
You did what to a pixel?[/QUOTE
Indeed, the I read peters description but need to read it. Few times...

but compared to two its a tad dull as the smoke is superb
Thanks Andy. Colours added via PPHi, Peter, #1 symmetry is bang on and I has a great, aged look to it. Bit close for me, not keen on the cropped keys.
#2, Jackie said she can see a face...not me...Very well done. Nice and sharp and much better than I've produced. I was going to buy some incense sticks last week for a play, but didn't...might buy some.
Were the colours added in post or via flash?
Cheers.
Thanks Marsha. It was a dog's face I can see :shrug:Hi Peter.
Number one is perfectly symmetricalbut compared to two its a tad dull as the smoke is superb
I can see that face Andy. Or a body, there are two kidneys, the top of the rib cage, little collar bones and even what looks like intestines and, erm, I'll stop there! It looks like an X-ray.
You and Sarah have really done well this week![]()
Now spill the beans on what you did?

Thanks AllanBoth excellent and I can see the face too rather like some nightmarish clown![]()
Thanks Alan. I could have taken a photo of one of the electronic keyboards but thought it would look too clean so went for the old piano instead. I agree it does look dull especially when next to #2.Hi Peter
Abstract - #1 is good and seems bang on theme but the white looks a little dull on my screen. #2 has good impact, some lovely colours, good focus and lighting.Use of PP gives a very accurate symmetry
Thanks MichaelNumber 1 of symmetry doesn't do anything for me. But I do really like number 2, great patterns and colours in there.
Thanks DeanHi Peter
Symmetry - Well it has to be 2... the first is a nice idea and well shot with a good letterbox crop, but no 2 is just so colorful, great shapes - love it![]()
Cheers Mark. It's a photo of some smoke from an incense stick and the rest is pp'ing to invert and colour it plus in this case flipping a copy to give it symmetry.Great shots, especially the second one, and yes, I can see the face!
I've seen these shots before, and most I find a little boring because there's no point to them, but the symmetry, the face, and the graduated colour top to bottom all make yours a great shot
How do you do these?
Thanks Lizgot to be no 2 Symmetry, very creative
Thanks Sarah#2 for me as well Peter!! The 'face' is great - it's amazing what you can see in these smoke pics!![]()
