I took delivery of my new laptop today, and for the most part I'm very happy with it; handling all my processing without a problem, lovely screen resolution and lovely speakers. Unfortunately, I'm noticing that the reds on the screen are really oversaturated? Comparing to my iiyama 27" monitor (it's not perfect but it's close enough to my prints that I trust it) and my Lumia 800 it's pulling loads more reds out of images than either of them. As I was going to swap over to this machine (from my desktop) this is quite a worry, is there any way to drop the saturation of these reds without expensive software/does anyone have a colour profile for the laptop?

Thanks in advance for any help. :)

You probably got the full gamut version, i got one of these a couple of years ago and sent it back as the reds ere way over saturated, it struggles to calibrate as well

Windows 7 has some built in software to adjust the monitor. Whether it will do what you need I don't know, but it might be worth a look. Just hit the Start key and then type "calibrate" and you'll see the option appear.

Ugh that's really disappointing to hear given how many reviews praised the screen so much... Sure it looks great for menus but with photos it's completely off whenever there's any red in the image :(

I've tried that and I've taken a little off of the red saturation but I can't take any more off without the whites going off and it's still oversaturating the reds.

Have you calibrated the screen?

I haven't calibrated it, no. I don't have any calibration gear and I really don't want to spend another 25% of what I spent on the laptop to get a calibration device :/ I was hoping some people might have colour profiles on the XPS 15 because I'm sure I'm not the only person with issues with the saturation.

EDIT: Found the colour settings in the Nvidia control panel, hopefully that might make a difference, but it seems like I might not be able to drop reds enough without it turning the whites blues :/

EDIT 2: Okay I've found some image settings I'm happy with but it doesn't seem to affect the image in photoshop which has reds as saturated as ever

Is there any way to get photoshop/lightroom to use the nvidia control panel settings? I'm happy enough with those image settings but going back into photoshop it has the same oversaturated reds as before

Found a calibrated colour profile on the notebookreview forums, will report back once I've tested it.

Have you calibrated the screen?
I have, 3 times with 3 different devices and nothing can get the reds right without getting a slight blue cast, Dell forums are inundated with similar stories which are totally blanked by Dell support.
