I'm thinking about a replacement for the Macbook and want to return to windows. The Dell XPS 15 can come with this screen, and I wondered if it was good or just trying to one-up Apple?

Ordered - now we wait to find out if it's as good as I hope!

Excellent, would be interested on your feedback once you get it if at all possible?

I have the new XPS 15 with the high res screen and it's lovely, however I do find the menu items in Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5 to be a tad on the small size and as such in general operation the touch screen is a bit hit and miss on certain websites unless you scale the page to 150%...

Would I change it, no - but I wish my eyesight was better!

OK, had my first few hours with it - you can read the story here if you want.

Basically the screen appears excellent in some respects: incredibly sharp, clear and smooth. The weaknesses are that it's glossy and VERY reflective, but worse than that, there's a distinct colourshift, with light colours turning yellow as the viewing angle increases (both above/below and from the side) and with the machine on my lap this page has a very distinct colourshift both top and bottom. This is not a photographic quality screen, whatever the resolution (and I'm disappointed about that).

Would I change it? You betcha, though I think it will still be a good laptop.

HTH.

Assuming you brought online/over the phone if the screen is that useless I'd be seriously tempted to evoke and rights you have for return under DSR

It's not ideal, rather than being 'useless', but it's also not sold as a photo-editing screen (though I may well go read a bit more to be sure). I guess I've become much more aware of screen quality over the last 6 months, and while at one time I'd have thought it marvellous, now I look for and find flaws. You guys have trained me to 'see' too well!

To be honest I'm somewhat the same as you, where as now I'll be honest I wouldn't dream of doing serious editing on anything else but my main PC now, a screen that I know to be accurate as its always in the same position where as a laptop screen you cannot guarantee that plus my computer screen is calibrated regularly too
