Hi all,
I have a problem with my Dell Inspiron desktop,shut it down last night and this morning it won't switch on ! When I press the power button it flashes orange once and then nothing! Usually the button would turn blue and the boot-up would start. Any help would be massively appreciated!!!

It could be a number of thing. PSU for one.

Are you comfortable with opening the case to check and test?
 
Do I have to remove the psu from the pc tower and /or disconnect everything?
 
Some dells have diagnostic leds so check your manual. That Orange flash might mean something and ther may be other leds that tell you more.

If that's no help then I'd unplug it from the wall for 5 minutes then try it again as a first step. Assuming it still doesn't run unplug it again and open the case. Remove and refit all the plugs and sockets and any cards in slots. Leave the CPU alone but remove and refit the memory in its slots.
if it still doesn't respond then time to try a new power supply.
 
Thanks for all your replies folks- sorted it by clearing the CMOS settings! Don't really understand why it fixed my problem- just something someone suggested on the Dell support forum. Funnily enough it fixed some other issues eg my hard drive didn't show in device manager and auto back-up would not work- all good now! Perhaps someone could explain it for me!!
