Just had one of these delivered today, great monitor at a great price and next working day delivery.

It looked like it had never been out the box and the contents were packed and sealed as if it had never been opened, the only way you could tell was because the dell security tape was cut.

Communication from the seller was also excellent, and was given the tracking number asap.

Another one has joined the club!!!
Had mine from same supplier for a few weeks now.
WOW what a monitor and WOW what a great price!

ENJOY!

£160 for a 22" refurb monitor? Not that great a deal if I am completely honest with you, I also wouldn't like having just the 1 year warranty, it's probable that you will encounter dead pixels with that sooner or later and it won't last half as long as most other monitors. My 20.1" with the same resolution has been going strong for over 3 years now, unlikely you'll get much more than a year out of this. Sorry, don't mean to put you down about your purchase, if you're happy with it then fine, personally I wouldn't recommend it...

dammit, was going to buy the NEC 23" IPS panel in a month's time...slightly better monitor and a bit bigger, but twice the price...hmm

It's an IPS monitor, rather than a TN panel. The image is stunning, better viewing angles etc compared to normal monitors.

I think I'd rather pay £80 more, and get it brand new, with a 3yr warranty. You'd be sure to get at least 3x the life, and it would keep it's value much longer. Referbs are never cheap enough to be worth while... If it was less than half the price, then it would be worth it, heck, you're basically buying a monitor that's been used for 2 years with 1 year left on the warranty...

@Iain, you must be lucky...

Where on earth do you get the idea that the monitor has been used for two years - most are returned items either because there is a fault on them or because someone changed their mind and returned for refund or a different monitor.
It is then illegal to sell the items as new, so they are checked, repacked and sold as refurbished with a 12 month warranty.

A 2 year old used one has a 1 year warranty, would be expected to last over 1 year, a refurb has a 1 year warranty, would also be expected to last over one year, but neither would be expected to last 3 years without fault. I'd therefore rate them both as having a similar value, as long as the used one was in mint condition, obviously...
But whatever, if you're happy with a refurb at this price, then great, but personally I wouldn't be and wouldn't recommend it, maybe that's just me.

Sorry Joe but you are just wrong. Dell refurbs are just simply brand new monitors that went to a customer and had a fault so were returned and sorted. These panels are not old enough to be 2 years old and from the people that have them they look new. The reality is that some of them might have had faulty stands or leads, broken plastic or all manner of things. Once that part has been replaced they are no more likely to fail than a new one. You might buy a new one that had failed final quality inspection and went back down the line for that to be replaced so basically the same as a refurb other than a trip around the country. I have worked in the industry for over 20 years and have seen this same business model for a long time.

Items with no moving parts like this are quite likely going to last until they are obsolete without failing. The MTBF will be in tens or even hundred of thousands of hours.

basically, if you wanted to pay £98.26 for a 2 year warranty extension for a £160 monitor, you could have bought this new as opposed to this refurb.

I have also seen this seller selling the same monitor with single dead pixels in ebay auctions. The one I was watching went for just under £100. To me, paying the extra £60 for a perfect monitor was worth it.
Had I seen the ebuyer offer before I purchased, I still think I would have gone with the ebay one. Several people on here and people I know have bought from the same ebay seller and have had nothing but positive things to say regarding both the item and the seller.

Ok, well, fair enough. Maybe it's just my bad experience with refurbs that puts me off

Note to myself....don't buy a refurb monitor off joesmith

I'm off work next week so might be tempted for one myself :D

OK, so it's only a 12 month warranty, but to me my monitor looks brand new and I absolultely love it. I would buy another one, but desk space doesn't permit :(

For the money, you cant go far wrong (as long as the monitor doesn't go wrong on day the day after the 12 months is up!)

Just got this monitor today and I love it! Came as new with all docs and leads.

Benq have got a lovely 24" TFT for around £160. Brilliant reviews too.

Suddenly been a surge in sales since I posted the link:)

Only 2 left....there were 5 half an hour ago. ;)

What inputs does it have. I am after a monitor with hdmi and dvi for the studio.

only DVI and VGA.

dvi and hdmi are ofc interchangeable though as long as you can get at the audio another way...

Oh I know, I could use the VGA as the input from the iMac and I have a hdmi to dvi lead already. Might get one. Does it have the standard mount on the back as it needs to attach to an arm.

check the spec, bound to have VESA though :) mine should arrive in a few hours...night!

Really is a great monitor for the money.:)

Quite interested in this - I've been using a 19" no name job I bought in Cambridge Staples about 5 years ago, which always perfectly matches my prints.

Has anyone with one of these monitors done a printed output - do you find the calibration good? How does it compare to prints (camera JPEG vs TFT vs print)

I got one of these a couple of days ago. I haven't had a chance to play or calibrate yet, but it looks in perfect condition. No marks on it.

Looks like this could be quite a bargain, I guess we'll see in 1 years time!

I plan to calibrate it and get some prints done at DCSL, so I'll let you know.

I run a fully calibrated system with printer and find the monitor gives excellent results. with the IPS panel it calibrates very well.

Thanks Mike and Mark - I'm looking for something that just "works", life is too short to fanny around with caliberations, so this sounds encouraging.

The reason I've stuck with my 19" TFT for so long as that the display matches the output from my A4 and A3 printers perfectly so don't want to "regress" here :)

Anyone tried using this monitor (2209WA) to view blu-ray? I am having an issue with mine as both Nvidia control panel and Cyberlink say it isn't HDCP compliant despite the Dell specs saying that it is.
