Parcel2go - total nightmare courier, losing an item that was only travelling 40 miles!

Used them myself several times through work etc. Never ever had an issue with them. Been 100% superb so far.

I agree they are rubbish, had a huge run in with them last year, I had a couple - delivery driver who claimed I was out, when I was in all day - a lens sent to someone who was due to be in Spain, sent four days before needed and didn't get there - now in this instance I cannot blame the courier entirely as I raise it as an issue after two days with P2G and they said don't worry, then next day I got in touch with the courier directly as P2G would not talk to them and the courier found the lost package but were too late to deliver but did try very hard indeed.

I have used them occasionally in the past without problem. But will steer clear after reading this.

I fairness P2G are fine IF nothing goes wrong if it does their customer service is the worst I have encountered as I found them evasive and lazy.

i have also used them several times without any problems, however about 8 weeks ago my son sent me a package **** has not arrived.when trying to make a claim he hit a brick wall and they really did not give a damn.i was quite shocked by their attitude and have stopped using them.after what happened to my son i would not recommend anyone using them at all as if the package arrives then obviously there is not a problem but if a package goes missing you will have real problems with this 3rd party company.

I've used them a couple of times & received many items that have been sent via them with no problems.
I suspect that when you are dealing with the number of items that they are it doesn't take a very large % of problems to rack up an apparently large no. of complaints.

Used them in the past and this is pretty typical sounding. Useless.

Same here...I tend to use Parcelmonkey these days.

Parcel2Go themselves are fine, any time I've had a problem with them they've sorted it and compensated me, when it was their fault.

Yodel on the other hand, who are the product of the unhappy marriage between HDNL and DHL Domestic are, to be frank, just awful.

In fairness I think it is not entirely Parcel2Go at fault.

We have used them many times and not had many problems that were not sorted out.

If you had used Yodel/DHL/HDN directly then you would be seeing exactly the same problem so avoiding P2Go wouldn't necessarily be the answer, the answer is to avoid the actual delivery company.

Unfortunately though for parcels coming in this is not possible.

Only last week HDN delivered a parcel for me to a completely different company, road, post code etc. all different to me.
If it wasn't for the receiver going out of their way and contacting me I'd still be wondering where the parcel was and when I contacted the supplier they said it had been delivered to my address.

Now trying to claim from any of these delivery companies is another thing alltogether. It just leads to the run around.

The latest one we have heard from Royal Mail for an Air Sure letter sent abroad earlier this year that has never been delivered is they are asking for a copy of the franked label as they cannot confirm the postage we paid (via our companies franking machine, collected by post man).
It's just the run around, none of them are interested in paying out when things go wrong at their end.

...when it was their fault....

Then you were lucky, the one thing they can control is chasing up the courier for you, they did not do this, or arranging for a courier to collect if the first one didn't bother to turn up the first three times.

They did for me, on more than one occasion. I can't say I've ever had a courier fail to turn up three times, except in the bad weather last year. Then P2G were very poor as they simply closed their customer services dept and hid.

I would like to think they've learned a lesson from last year's debacle though, time will tell.

The one thing to do is always push for compensation when they **** up and do it via their Facebook page, they tend to pay more attention to complaints that others can see.....

I had to talk to them online once and they were very helpful indeed. No issues with them so far. Guess you will only read about problems on the net not all the people who have been happy with the service

WOW! You searched online and found some bad reviews about a courier company.

What a surprise?

To be fair, its not parcelstogo's fault. once you pay for the service it is passed onto the company you chose. yodel is what used to be HDNL and they really are shocking. DHL and citylink however are much better if not a little more pricey. but you do get what you pay for.

I agree to a point, but P2G are the people you should talk to once they take your money - yes they themselves didn't loose your package, but it should be them that chase it down if that does happen, not the customer having to go round them and do the work themselves, which in my experience is the only way to sort it out if you have trouble via their service.

Re Yodel/HDNL, funnily our best courier driver by a mile works for them, granted the rest of their lot seem shocking though, but he is worth his weight in gold - even the dog likes him :)

DHL and Yodel are the same company now. HDNL, as was, bought DHLs UK domestic service from them, and proceeded to ruin it.

I have used Parcel2go many times and been very happy, never had a problem in fact I have recommended them to many people/businesses

I have used them quite a few times with no problems... so far.

I had terrible experience with DHL before. Thankfully, nothing was lost in the end. I'd recommend avoiding them at all costs

Also haven't had any problems with Yodel or Parcel2go, incoming mostly, but on the occasions I have sent parcels with Parcel2Go (via Yodel, as they are generally the cheapest) they have been received without drama. (the OP could always use a more expensive service if they want to avoid Yodel).

Okay, humble pie time - P2G may have got alot better - yesterday I ended up giving them another chance and used them, surely enough something went wrong - no option to print out label with Hermes, so I contacted their online help and they immediately upgraded me to City Link, to say I was surprised would be an understatement.

I mentioned this to my wife who seems to hate them more than me and she said, well back when we used them their were no alternatives, but now there are plenty so I guess they've had to improve.

Ordered a new monitor and delivery date was given as Dec 1st, looking ok on the Yodel tracking site then got this

In transit but possible delay CAMBRIDGE SERVICE CENTRE 30/11/2011

Booked a day off tomorrow, how can it be In Transit, but delayed?

Only about ten miles from Cambridge and can't imagine where it can go other than to my address

They may already know that it's on it's way to the wrong depot now, seen that happen before to some of my items.

Then again they may not have enough drivers to confirm it will be loaded onto a van for delivery.
Seen this a lot in this area where they bring in contracters to make the delivery (well that's their idea anyway).

Same as many others - used Parcel2Go to send a few things with no issue. I have experience of things going wrong with Yodel and their seemingly brain dead drivers, and its a nightmare.

I have used them both on the net and also been to their main office and they have always been helpful. Parcelmonkey is another story! Have never paid out on compensation claims for items they have damaged.

Finished posting and the doorbell rang, here on the right day and polite chap too

So thumbs up from me for Yodel and fine with the last item they delivered too

Off now to check my new monitor out so no time for chit chat here

hmm i guess this all boils down to the fact we all spout off about crap service, but hardly ever mention good service.

Never had a problem with Parcel2Go myself. In fact I always go for 48 hour delivery and on occasion has been sub 24, though I accept with the volume of parcels the occasional hiccup may (though should not with today's technology) occur.

I went to collect a parcel at the local yodel Wednesday. I swear was served by a kid who was there with her mum or dad as they had to take her to work due to strikes.

After waiting 10 mins.....

"Sorry Sir, I cannot find it anywhere."
"Hmm... may I suggest you look a bit harder then?"
Eventually found it....

What was I supposed to do? Say "Oh ok then, never mind...."

Have used them about 15-20 times and have never had a problem.

Am sending lynton a parcel monday with them :)

Deal with any of the couriers long enough, and you'll probably end up with a long list of grievances. None of them are perfect, and almost all of them boil down to the individual drivers or the depot staff. Incompetent drivers do get fired, but it often takes a couple of months of terrible service before the company gets to the point of being able to sack a driver.

For example, a few years ago I had a problem with Citylink, who many businesses swear by, but after staying home all day for a delivery and them not turning up, I had to call them to find out what was going on. The driver claimed to have waited 4 minutes at the door, and then left a note, yet there was no note. Same happened next day, and the day after, in the end, on the 4th day of scheduled delivery, the manager at the depot drove out with the parcel personally, and then told me that he was p'ed off with the driver who was now on a written warning.

Another example, 2 weeks ago I ordered something on a friday afternoon, now the delivery options were £5.99 for next day, £5.99 for 2-3 day, or £9.99 for saturday delivery. Not needing the item that much I chose 'next day', I knew that it wouldn't be saturday, but at least it would be guarenteed for monday, and there was no price difference. Yodel turned up and delivered it on Sunday.

Or the problem I had 10 years ago in the US, where UPS managed to 'lose' not only a $3000 telescope, but it's replacement as well. When they finally showed up with it, I got 'well, it's on the run-up to christmas, and a lot of our depot staff get light fingers at this time of year', so matter of factly. They also managed to 'lose' a $2500 custom built tripod, that had a 6 month lead time, now THAT was annoying.

Do I avoid these companies? No, not really, there's no point, if I avoided every delivery company that messed up, I'd not have any options, even parcel force have had packages lost/stolen more than a few times for me.

I've used Parcel2Go MANY times, both for UK and international parcels. They were 100% fine in my case. Sorry to hear that you had so many problems with it :/

Never had any issues with them - however I would never send anything via yodel.

I normally select Parcelforce - and you can then drop off at your local post office - large parcels to Ireland can save £60 per parcel!
