Deleted retreval prob with usb camera not recognised

I deleted some pics accidentally and thought nothing of it as the wife had said she didn't want them but is now saying otherwise.

No bother thinks I, and dl's a proggie... no camera found though win7 says it is there and can open the card to view the pictures on it.

Card is Scandisc 32 gig Extreme S2 and camera is Fugifilm Finepix HS30

I have now tried five programs and the story is as above. Puter sees the pictures on the card no problems but not one of the programs can see the camera as a drive.

I am stumped here, and I have tried two cables and three USB ports to rule out that factor as same same as above.

Is there a setting on the camera to set it up as a USB device.?
Alternatively put the card in a card reader and see if the software reads it then.
 
My card reader is several years old and does not take the card so that option is out.

The camera is showing as a drive in "computer" and I can dl the pics and so on so no issues there, it is just the cards own rescue software won't recognise the drive and nor will the other proggies, now 6 rescue proggies are not seeing it yet the computer is more than happy it is there.

I am baffled

Well is desperation I tried the card reader on my 6 year old lappie and success, and pics retrieved by "recuva" and the CD in my tower far newer at 18 months will not accept the card. All very odd.

Glad that you got them back :)
My desktop is about 3 years old and will not read any SD card more than 1Gb! I can read them if I go through a USB card reader though?
 
At a guess, one of the card readers predates SDHC and can't read that format. A new reader will solve that problem cheaply.
