Hi,

I would really like to capture some deer in South Yorkshire tomorrow morning if possible. Does anyone know anywhere it would be possible? Also would a 300mm lens on full frame be enough (have nothing longer). What kind of time is best etc? Any help would be great thanks.

Your camera gear is more than adequate Adam and due to the weather I wouldnt venture too far, have you considered Clumber park as its teeming with wild roaming deer

That could be an option, pretty high chance of catching them there then? Would love some shots of wild deer in the snow. Bit further than I hoped but it's only 45 mins I guess. As long as the snow holds off would be ok. Do you just pay for the car park there?

Oh one more thing, is it a busy place for people walking - i.e. nice country walk scene in the snow. Possibly tree lined walks? Trying to get is much variety as possible from tomorrows shooting so that might help.

Have to get the most out of this 300 2.8 whilst I have it this weekend :) But main purpose is for a standout animal shot.

You dont pay entry but I dont know how much parking is and its such a vast place you should be able to get some shots of undisturbed snow scenes and some with deer in but my tip is dont go alone and have a fully charged mobile in these conditions

Cheers, found some at Chatsworth. Couldn't get quite as close as I wanted, wish i'd rented a TCON / taken a D2h with me for extra reach. I could get fairly close but 300mm on full frame still isn't that much. Had to jump the wall in and climb over it to get back out as Chatsworth was all locked up where the deer were!
