Decorating a studio...colours??

I have access to a space where I'm setting up a studio, have just laid a new floor and am ready to decorate. After reading lots of articles on the web about colour choice for the walls there seems to be a divide in opinion between:

White
18% grey
Black

Black to me seems a bit unwelcoming and was hoping for some advice from my fellow TPers??
 
If I had the space I would prefer black.

But can see why black would seem unwelcoming, maybe some sort of curtain type thing which is white that you can retract when starting a shoot? Or white walls with a black type curtain you can use once the shoot is starting?
