Edit My Images
Yes
Well I have got in a little bit of a rut of late, and not been doing much apart from when attending meets.

My normal activity of visiting the Wildlife parks around kent has lost its luster for some reason I think it because I already have thousands of images of the animals and I am just duplicating shots I already have. In addition to that I am really starting to hate all the fences and enclosures that are always in the images.

So since returning for the meet at Dungeness I have been on a mission regarding my coastal images I have in my library I have been through them all and I have selected all the shots that I want to retake but at different times to the original shot.

I have selected in all approx 20 locations and 100 images and I want to retake these images but in dawn light and at sunset. As you can imagine this is going to take some time, I will most likely get one or two location done a month.

This will most likely take me up to Christmas or January or maybe longer depending on the amount of meets that are arranged.

So with that in mind I thought I would ask the question of you all....

Have you got a long term project on the go...... If so what gave you the idea, whats the duration of the project and how is it all coming along.

Now you do not have to give specific detail of the project as I know it is hard to sometimes pinpoint ideas that get you excited, but just the broad strokes of it will give an idea.

Or if you have recently finished a project and want to post your results for feed back that would be another good idea.

I will post updates on the project as I go so this will most likely be an ongoing thread for a while once I get into the swing of things.

Cheers

My only project is to get decent pictures, that will take a while!

Good that you have got some new motivation though, hope you get the results you are wanting :)

Over the next 12 ish months a lot is going to change in my life.
I am moving into my very own house next Sat, Starting a new job on the 20th, getting married next May (lots to do between now and then) etc etc.....

So next Sat I am going to start a 365

I would like to catalogue as many wild species of nature local to me. This includes birds, wildlife, insects, wild flowers etc. The last few weeks have been good for damsel & dragonflies. As the harvest period approaches, its ideal for fruits etc. So it is a year round expedition.

Next year I will try and improve on this years shots while also keeping an eye out for rare or missed species, this way I can track what effect, if any, global warming is having on my local environment.

I am aiming to get my wildlife images selling...maybe through RSPB Images and other places :)

Cheers buddy, and the same to you

What's your non photography related project? Or is that the wedding?

 No.. our wedding hasn't been too bad to organise (Cyprus FTW :D)

We're setting up an online shop, which seems to be taking all my time at the moment, will be worth it in the end though :D

I have just selecetd a local church that i have easy access to and i intend starting from this month taking 1 picture a month of it, at exactly the same time on same day of every month from the same place and with exactly the same settings and lens to see what difference a month makes in the look of it with the difference in the souroundings

I tend to work along those lines myself Nigel, At one stage, whilst working the Thames eastward river banks last year, I even started to combine sunsets and rises with high and low tides just so I could get access to certain spots.

I have a few wilder ideas about using people for a shoot, can't actually say what the idea is, but its quite arty and possibly may cause quite a emotional response in the street...well hopefully, cos thats the whole point as its those response pictures I want to shoot.

I do not have a project as such, just want to see improvements on my quality of work and take as many opportunities as possible. However, working 6 days a week, so little time for it but the money will help towards equipment and future travels, so its vital that I put in the hours really.

I aim to get 1,000 festival faces.
I aim to photograph every landscape in Scotland < nuts :D But hell will be fun attempting!
And I aim to get a photo session with the queen. Wish me luck on that front, again I think its technically possible.

Gary.

I've just started one.

I'm calling it Northern Life. I want to record life here in the North of England as the popular perception is flat caps and whippets. Now I do have the whippet :cuckoo: but I want to show that life here is actually very vibrant and full of life.

Only got about 20 images so far but I've started taking a camera out to work with me so I can try to capture some of the cultural diversity too.

It's got a long way to go, I reckon I'll need 500-1000 images to get what I want. I'll give myself a year.

My long term project is my 365.
I took the List of Inspiration found in the 'Inspiration and Themes' section, added to it, and am now taking a photo related to a different theme each day.
Some days if feels like a burden, others it feels like a blessing.

I started it on the day I got my 40d, and at the end I'll be producing a 370 page photo book with a description of each shot, exif data, and various other snippets.

I look forward to seeing the projects you guys are talking about.
Forbidden Biker, your project sounds very interesting! looking forward to that

WOW
That sounds like one hell of a project, and what an amazing final product to have.

I am ashamed to say that for one reason or another, I haven't seen your 365  :nono:

Will go check it out now.

I dont have a project but perhaps I should have one!! I need to take more photos to improve but lack inspiration....couldnt commit to a 365 although they do sound fun!

Any ideas?

Any ideas?

I saw someone mention a 52 in another thread.
I did laugh at the time but thinking about it, it would give you a full week to find some inspiration and get the shot you want.

I bet it would still be hard work but would get you out and about with your camera.

52...good idea....a bit easier time wise eh. I'll think about it and perhaps get someone to give me a weekly theme. Otherwise I'd give up after week 2!!

 Shame on you!!

Anyway....you do know I'm 90 years old dont you?

That's not a bad idea BeHappy.
Post a thread saying that you are going to take 52 photos (could be 1 a week could be more if your up for it), and ask people for 52 themes.

That way it will give you some structure to work to but still give you the freedom to chose your shot.

After Mattyh's ideas I'll ask a neighbour!! LOL

I think a 52 is a great idea - hopefully I will be getting a better camera for my birthday (a bridge, not a DSLR but still - better than what I have at the moment!). If I do I think I will do a "52" - I just know that a 365 is going to end up feeling like a chore for me and I would struggle with motivation.

Thanks for the idea!

I'm trying to think of a reason to do a 42!!

Not because I think it's a good idea, I'm just a big geek and like "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"

Your not going to like it!

I too got into a rut and a couple of weekends ago decided to go out and about trying to tog as many pubs in Norfolk but also finding some details about them. Done about 30 so far and about 500 to go and no I don't have a pint in each of them but I'd like to.

It's a fairly undemanding project and not too much PP needed.

Paul

Missed a nought off that figure BH :D

as mentioned yesterday in PM, 52 ways to photograph a pot noodle. And the best part of it is you can still eat it after you finished the year!! :p

grrrrr you!!

My suggestion for a challenge was serious I'll have you know!! If I do one, I'll boycott your suggestions :nono:

it was a serious suggestion :) with a little imagination you could easily take 52 different photo's of a pot noodle... Come on, accept the challenge. At the very least you'll be known as the pot noodle queen :D

No I wont. I'm going to stamp my feet in a minute :bang:

Nigel

:D Nah don't be daft, I had to surf in on the Thames clippers wake.

...or I might have just climbed down the access steps at low tide. ;)
