If you don't bloody stop leaving elastic bands on my daughter's path.......I will........(insert suggestions here).......

How lazy can someone be.........I counted 15 this week which is up 2 from last week's total.......

Me thinks I need to have a word with him......old fashioned style;)

I have just spoke to royal mail complaints and they accept that isn't acceptable behaviour.....I then informed then if he didn't stop I would be sending them an invoice on a weekly basis for the removal of said elastic bands.......

They are all over the place. It used to be red coloured bands, but now they use buff coloured ones. Perhaps the aim was to make them less noticeable.

you could collect them ,make them into a ball and throw it at the postie who will probably need it to bounce on the walls as he now probably hasn't got a job due to your complaint ,HAPPY XMAS MR SCROOGE :woot::woot::woot:

Moaning faced git!
Can't believe you made a complaint, it's hardly a major issue.
Don't be surprised if your mail starts going missing.

So it's ok for them to just drop them wherever they choose?

I wonder how much the RMs elastic band budget is per annum.

No, I'm not saying it is, but was it really necessary to phone the Royal Mail complaints line? It's not even his path:p
Maybe he drops them accidentally.

I wondered where those elastic bands kept coming from on my garden and path over the last few months.Mystery solved.Thanks.

Fifteen in a week....right.

The red bands were supposed to biodegrade over time, that happened didn't it, and they were very fragile, broke a lot even when new.
Have to admit it is one thing I hate too, I keep all my bands and reuse them, well unless a customers ask for them ;)

If it was bothering me I think I'd have opted for for just having a quiet pleasant word with the guy.

Hardly crime of the century.

Bet you made the book of stupid complaints.....what a life to lead counting dropped elastic bands! You must be good at where's wally books.

For those of you who think I am being an arse making a complaint about him......first of all he has been asked not to drop the rubber bands on 2 other occasions, with the response of shrugged shoulders, and secondly we have had to remove them from the path and grass to prevent my one year old grandson from eating them and possibly choking......and let's not forget this is on private property......how many of you that are criticising me would be happy for anyone never mind a postman to leave litter on your property! I have given him plenty of chances and always been polite to him when asking him to refrain but if he has no regard for the customer who pays towards his wages then he deserves to be reported to his company........

I'll tell you how the bands get there. When a postie unbands a bundle of mail he drops the bands in his bag, not on the ground. When he then has to pull a parcel, or another bundle of mail, out of his bag, one or two bands may get caught up and will fall to the ground. We don't do it deliberately, principally because we are decent human beings who respect peoples' property and secondly because there isn't an endless supply at the depot and they have to be reused until they snap. People who moan about posties, and even worse, compalin about them and then gripe on the web, ought to try doing the job.

During my ten hour shift in gales and snow on Thursday, I probably dropped a few bands. I would be pretty hacked off if I found out that one of my customers had complained about it.

I am not complaining about you or the post people in general.my postie is brilliant....this is about one particular person who on occasion has ignored polite requests......as for them falling out of his bag, he doesn't have one......he has a trolley which he parks at the end of the street so no excuse for elastic falling out......my daughter's neighbour has the same problem with him and has got him on video throwing the elastics on her lawn as he takes them of the letters.....

Your daughter's neighbour videos the postman...FFS!

My daughter's neighbour has cctv all around her property and she checked it one day after finding an increase of elastics .......and low and behold Mr postie can be seen throwing to the ground and onto the lawn......

Being a post person you must agree that this is not acceptable behavior and after all it makes all post people look bad........

Make it up and ask your daughter to give him an extra fiver in his Christmas box, season of goodwill and all that

Reminds me of a joke
Postie comes in the pub well chuffed, had the usual Christmas envelopes and a satisfied smile on his face so mate asked what he was so pleased about

Halfway through his round attractive young lady invites him in and promptly proceeds to seduce him, afterwards bemused postie asks what just happened?

Apparently her husband asked her to give the binmen and window cleaner their tenner christmas box then said but f*** the postie

Here is a clip from a BBC news report........ Postal workers get through two million red rubber bands per day, the Royal Mail has revealed.

In the past five years, the organisation has spent almost £5m on four billion bands which are used to bundle letters together.

Keep Britain Tidy has called for their use to be reduced because they say wild animals can choke on them.

If they're dropped...pick em up.
It's not rocket science.

bloody people complaining about everything....

What can I say I used to work in the complaints department for a certain company and some of the extreamly petty complaints we would get were unreal ;)

well lets hope your daughter doesn't have a vindictive postie; did your daughter ask you to complain?

IMO its a petty complaint, who would you complain to if someone was dropping £1 coins? bet you wouldn't be so fussed then but still a choking hazard to the nipper..

as suggested by @Glenn Surtees post its very doubtful it is deliberate; pick them up, bin them, get over it..

I wonder how petty it would be if my 1 year old grandson was to find an elastic on the lawn and put it into his mouth and choke? or how would you like it if was someone was to drop litter onto your property? at the end of the day it is unacceptable behaviour for any employee of any company to litter a persons property... his job is to deliver a postal service not to litter peoples property.

As for suggesting someone dropping £1 coins....Well that is just absurd to use this as a comparison ......

A 1 year old should be supervised outside? So with your supervision he/she shouldn't be able to pick bits up like that!

My neighbours trees leaves are falling in my garden, I got court proceedings starting next week! The leaves are covering my green grass! My dog has to dodge them to go toilet, inconvenience to her just unacceptable!!

Why is it, that when some people have been replying to this thread, they seem to be ignoring the fact that the guy has already been asked on more than one occasion politely to be more careful/pick up after himself, and has been seen on CCTV footage to apparently be doing it deliberately (walking up the path taking the bands off and throwing them onto the grass). What may appear to be a petty complaint to some, seems to have been going on long enough to get the point of it being really f*****g annoying, and I think the only thing that could be done (considering that the postie had already been asked multiple times) was to make a complaint about it...or there is of course violence :bat:

Now you are just being silly... of course the child is supervised but the elastics are still a risk to his health and wellbeing as well to that of the wildlife in the garden.....I couldn't see the Royal Mail letting their staff throw elastics around their offices and warehouses as it is a health and safety risk so why should we let the post person do the same. and as for comparing leaves falling .......

When I spoke to the really helpful girl at Royal Mail she fully accepted that this was unacceptable practice for any member representing the company. I don't understand why so many of you think that I am being unreasonable in my actions. The post person has been spoken to and given a number of chances to buck up his ideas and he has failed to react in a proper and responsible manner as is required by his employers and I will be damned if we sit back and watch him litter private property because he is to feckin lazy to do his job properly.....

In your first post, you say you think you need to have a word with him, then 20 mins later you posted that you had called the complaints line.
That implies that you didn't speak to him first, and went straight to the complaints line. It's only after folks started calling it petty, that you say you did actually try speaking to him.
