Hi all,

I'm confused and so, I find myself asking the forum.

Recently bought a 5D Mk II. I recently went out to take some starscapes (so long shutter speeds).

I come home, open the picture the Canon RAW converter (Photo Professional). When it opens, there are dead pixels everywhere (red, blue and green dots). But, if i leave it for 10 seconds or so, they dissapear. When I open the same picture in Elements 9, the dead pixels are not there.

Initially, I thought about sending the camera back but, if the pixels correct themselves I will just put up with it.

Anyone know what this is? why its like that?

Confused.com but just curious.

If it's a brand new body take it back and ask for a replacement. Take a card with you and a laptop if you can. Download Faststone image viewer and see how many pixels show up at 20 seconds exposure with the lens cap on.

My 5d2 had dozens, they replaced the sensor and remapped it under warrenty.
