weekly De88ie's 52 2016 - Week 49 50 51

A lovely pale pink rose Debbie, well captured :)

3 really nice images for Flora Debbie the best has got to be the one with the Bee's that is a cracker

Hi Debbie

For flora I'll go for the first. I'm guessing it was overcast when you shot it because it looks quite even without much shadow. Sometimes a bit of shadow can be helpful in giving things like this a bit more shape. But nicely taken.

The second one feels like I'm jumping from one to another - I think this would be stronger just with a single subject?

You've done well to capture the bees and I'm guessing you've cropped this right in to get them that large? These sorts of shots are notoriously hard without a macro setup... very hard to get the necessary sharpness, especially when you crop in. Well done for achieving what you have and if you like this sort of photography there's a whole world there waiting to be explored!

I like the pink rose, and, not a criticism, but something that really lifts a subject like that is water droplets.

Hi Debbie
Sign - Well that's both a bit rude and a bit naughty (I googled scrog - not a word I'd seen before, I wonder what it meant originally). The sign stands out well from the background :)
Reshoot (Dangerous) - Looks a bit like that Georgian house in Barnes that fell down during 'renovation' ;)
Good contrasty shot with no obvious evidence of CA :) and that's a really strong blue sky there too.
Flora - I prefer the first of the 3 shots, but that is a stunningly sharp capture of the wings on bee in the 3rd shot.

Week 27 Active. Little bit busy for me, i prefer this photo, just not as active.

Lovely image with movement (and therefore activity) all to obvious with the flowing hair and mid-air posture. Nicely done (y)

Both good for the theme, I think your assessment is spot on Debbie, the first says active perhaps a bit more but anyone who has had kids knows how active #2 is

2 Great images for Activity Debbie No 1 shows more activity especially with the girl in the air but No 2 is a simpler cleaner image with nothing to distract your eye in the BG

Hi Debbie... well timed captures and great execution... but - they would be 10x better images if you'd captured them running towards you rather than away! Such a shame for me (and it's why I'm careful with my positioning at sports day etc.) but still a well taken photo.

Both on theme @De88ie, and I agree with you, the second is better as the background isn't as busy.
As @pjm says, the real improvement would have been to have captured them coming at you, so the face is caught, but sometimes these things just elude us

Week 28 "Life" My beautiful grandson, Born 8/7/16 . Perfect timing.

Carried from pics but no comments thread. Thank you Carl, didn't even read this weeks theme until i was on the way to the hospital to meet him. Couldn't believe my luck. Not the sharpest of photos, but i will have lots of opportunities for improvement. Definitely on theme though :)

Ohhhh perfect timing for the theme!
How much did you pay him for putting in an appearance? ;)
Congratulations!

Thanks Ruth, luckily there was no charge. Good job really as he is priceless. :)

Perfect timing for the theme, first portrait of his life?

Congratulations firstly and a very timely appearance by the little man couldn't have worked out better

Sign - fun spot great for the theme
flora - three lovely pictures I like the third one for the detail on the bees
Activity - Great Action especially in the 1st one
Life - as you say perfect timing - congratulations to you and your family

And this weeks winner for bang on theme goes to .... :D

Lovely Debbie, nothing to add :)
