Hi Steve, welcome to TwitterPated do you have anything to back up the statement that tobacco smoke deposits shorten electronic component life? :p
 
I know a lad who dropped his D200 in a load of pig slurry and it absolutely stunk but he cleaned it lots of times with zoflora disinfectant on a cloth which slowly got rid of the smell, so should work on smoke.

Yes. Good friend owned two TV repair shops in Kent. His experience is good enough for me :-)

If the wind changes you'll stay like that :p ;)
 
Thank you all for the suggestions. I reckoned I'd still smell the smoke in my head even if it wasn't there any more so I flogged it on ebay at a small loss. With full odour disclosure of course.

Lesson learned. I'll never buy again without asking the question.

True. Would have cost me a bit in the long run though. Last time I bought a pack of fags they were about £1 for 20 but I think they cost a tad more now.

I think it's the other way round these days, 1 for £20. :D
I bought something a few years ago and didn't think to ask if the seller smoked. Now I always ask when I'm buying used gear.
