weekly David's 52+2 for 2014 - SHAPE

Thanks guys. I agree, it is a little under exposed. I will correct that today hopefully. I will try the various crops mentioned too and see if I can get it a little bigger in the frame.

Cheers.

Hi David. Not a bad shot. Crop is abit tight as others have mentiond. If I had to be super critical, I would probably talk about the flat lighting. I know it cant be helped without human intervention, though a little manual "off camera" flash can work wonders (y)

You can get au awful lot or mileage out of barbed wire - I like this.

Good subject. Agree that it could be a bit brighter and might be better cropped on the left.

Hi David,

Odd - This really is super cute.
Play - Yup, I prefer the 2nd take too: better composition and overall a more pleasing image.
Close - 2nd edit for me, despite the blown highlights in the sky. Not sure if you tried to recover them in PP?

Close - It is certianly to the point I can't see anything particuarly worng with no1. The sky does let no2 down.

Hi David

Close...edited,cropped & flipped version really works for me ( baring the blown bits of clouds )...I liked the exposure of the original with the crop & flip of the edit.....I'm known for being awkward :D

Hi, nice colour in there and the placement of the bubbles is very good but it could do with a tidy up,
there is a really dirty mark centre left

Certainly an interesting image David, colours reflected in bubbles, bg colours and patterns created very good (y)

I've just wrote this on another thread, but it would be interesting to know how its done :)

Hi Phil. It's oil and water. Put some coloured paper on the floor and shine a light on them. Then suspend a pyrex type glass dish above (I used two chairs) filled with water, add some oil, give it a stir and snap away once it's all come to a stand still. I put the camera on a tripod and used a cable release.

Dirty marks aside ;), this gives some really interesting colours and patterns, nice one.

Close - I prefer the edit (other than the blown highlights). Maybe it is something about the traditional western left to right reading.
Bubble - Nice image. My eyes keep being drawn towards the centre as that's where most of the bubbles are. Good use of colour on this one as well.

Couldn't be bothered with the cloning so went for this option in the end. Lol.

David, original for me, I like the bubbles with the purple in the top left corner :D

Thanks mate.

I'm hoping to have a strong week this week. Determined to get my entry done over the weekend and really put some thought into my shot. The last couple of weeks have been a bit crap for me and I haven't really given it my full attention.

Close: Strange but there are two versions and, the crop aside, I prefer the second version of the barbed wire. Not for any other reason than the wire now runs from left to right rather than the original, I prefer the second - it must be a function in my brain that makes me prefer left/right over right/left. Odd.

Bubble. I prefer the second edit, concentrates the mind and is busy but not spread out.

Bubbles - I really like it, sharp and colourful, an interesting take on the theme.

Well done! :)

As you say, quite a few have been done this way but I just love the colour so for me it stands out over the others.

Good image David, interesting colour and patterns (y) I'm glad someone found it easy :p

Managed to put this one off long enough to drop behind a week!!

I've tried to show the harshness of a mineral against the more organic element of wood... I really like the outcome and have tried to process the image so it has a touch of grit to it....
Has it worked?
