Davidh6781 - Themed 52 - Week 27 - Art Page 12

Definitely worth viewing this one larger

On my screen the saturation on the red looks spot on, and I love the composition. The inclusion of the spoon really adds to it for me, but I think Allan is right about the end of the spoon just creeping into focus. Maybe if you'd pushed it just a little further back . . . but it certainly doesn't detract much from the image as it is.

Almost missed your peace shot, but that's definitely got the cute factor.
The expression on his face says it all.
I hope we get to see him again in the 52 - he's got the most amazing coat, lovely textures in there to photograph.

Thanks Sarah, certainly the spoon was a trail, didn't really notice it creaping into focus until mentioned. maybe could use that one as a reshoot.

Harvey has the best perfect blonde coat I have seen, he is usually bathed in tresemme blonde shampoo and conditioner. he and or the other one will apear if the theme fits them. :)

Yeah I like that.

Thought initially that you had selected too narrow DoF but on closer look the light catching the 2nd and especially 3rd strawberries help give more depth.

Quite like the spoon in the shot but feel it would benefit from being turned around.

thank you, this spoon is a hit or miss. I am feeling the reshoot with the spoon further back.

i like the dof on this as it highlights the main focal point of the first strawberry, tricky one with the sats, the first strawberry looks ok but the one on the left does look a bit over cooked. The chocolate and the reflection in it look great.

Cheers Chris, I will have a play with the tones, see what I can do.

Now that is how to take a shot of strawberries! Perfect. Love it.

Hi David  I've dropped in on your thread a couple of times, but for one reason or another (time!) haven't got round to commenting. So, to catch up a little, my absolute favourite so far is:

Produce (Post 176) This looks just like a glossy mag photo for a very posh vegetarian restaurant or a 'local produce, organic, carefully produced, picked by hand ...etc etc.' deli. Very classy indeed.

Peace: Awww - so cute, and as Sarah says beautiful colours and textures in his coat. Our dogs have just the same expression when they want the toy, but don't want to play with it or share it! :D

Indulgence: Yummmy strawberries. :D The colours look good on my screen, and the spoon works well enough for me not to have noticed the slight focus on the handle, until somebody else mentioned it. I love the photo - the composition, the lighting and the dof are all excellent. :)

Jean

I know how getting Time feels, some times, time should be purchasable. lol.

thank you.

I love your little dog picture for peace. Some say dogs dont have expressions but he certainly has that "leave me in peace" expression.

I like the strawberries in your indulgence picture but am not sure about the colour of the chocolate. I would like to see it darker as it is a bit red and doesnt contrast enough with the strawberries colour.

The second stare picture is definiely better- you look quite scary:eek:

Little Harvey hates the camera, just to get that was a nightmare, every time the cam is out he sits at my feet every where i stand lol. bless him.

The strawberries chocoloate is Nutella spread mixed with veg oil to give it a nice smooth sloppy shinny apperance, but yes i see your point its merging a bit of red.

I don't look like Stare 2 in real life, supprising what Lights and the camera do. lol

thank you

A lovely looking dog... and a very nicely taken shot of him too. It fits the theme nicely.

And that is very indulgent... I could do with a few of those right now actually... with a splash of cream just to top it off ;)

Olives ?? with a bottle of olive oil behind ?? I don't think the olive oil in the bottle is helping here. The olives seem a little dwarfed by including the bottle, but the bottle's not got enough detail in it. Perhaps a puddle of olive oil in the bottom of a dish with the olives resting in it ?

Looks like you've got some dust in there too.

I too find that bottle to be a distraction. I'd like to see more of the olives and as John suggested, perhaps a nice puddle of olive oil.

Interesting subject though!

Ian.

Maybe worth a reshoot with the olives. and yes i see the dust. unsure if thats sensor or lens. will check

For a moment I thought your isolation shot was "stop"
Looks like you've nailed both themes in one go with this one, so a great way to catch up

Nice and sharp and an appropriate use of selective colouring. I also think that the shadows work well in it.
I'm not sure that you needed so much blank open space at the top of the frame, although I'm struggling with a suggestion for a different crop. Anything else feels either too cramped or too central . . . maybe it's best the way it is

Ingredients : I like this take on the theme, but agree with the other comments about the bottle dominating the shot.
I think John is spot on with his suggestion for an alternative, although if you wanted to keep the bottle in, maybe backlighting it to give it a glow and some more interest or trying to get the olives reflected in the glass would give it some more oomph.

Hi Sarah now you say it does pass for stop too, I used the lots space as crops just didn't work for me, and made the tap look enlarged and out of place.

The ingrediants was a rushed effort due to issues with work etc hence week 20 is missing.

Thank you

Very clever, hitting two themes in a single image ;)... stop and isolation and it works very well for both of them. Good bit of pp with the colour pop on the tap.

Thank you, I was a while deciding weather to do the selective colour as the colour version looked ok too, but this one seems to be a winner.

Stop and isolation in one go. Very clever.Like the bright red tap. It makes an ordinary object interesting.
Sue

I am going to agreee with you all, two themes in one go. thank you.

good shot for Stop/Isolation. The added red tap brings the photo to life

thank you. first time i have dabble with selective colours and seemed to work really well.

Great work on week 21 there. Really well executed colouring too.

Thanks Rich, :)

Week 23 - Post and as I manage the post room at work, there seemed to be endless sort of ideas in this area, although i did think of a post in the ground but couldn't find one i liked lol

well here it is.

I like this David, and in this case the selective colour works a treat. I like the uniformity of this shot and because of it it almost sends the eyes a bit funny like an optical illusion. Nice job this week:thumbs:

Hi Chris, yes i noticed when i downloaded from the camera that there are black dots in between the stickers, thanks it came out better than expect,

The missus looked at me strange when she came in and found the laminate floor was full of Air Mail Par Avion stickers lol.

Thank you

I like your shot for post, a simple but very effective idea. I started out looking at our post room for inspiration but then ended up with a post in the ground shot!

Phil

Like it, David. Agree with Allan that it's a top use of selective colour.

I agree with all thats been said above David. A simple take on the theme but I can't look at it too long, makes me eyes go funny:lol:
Nothing more to add, well done  Iain

I'm another one that likes this.

A different take on a theme that will throw up loads of similar images

Andy

Thanks all, it seemed real simple and was thinking it cannot work but it seems to go real well. Again thank you

Selective colouring works wonders in this shot, even if my eyes do go funny after a while

Excellent David, the selective colour suits really well, and when viewed large, really works well.
