Davidh6781 - Themed 52 - Week 27 - Art Page 12

thank you. these last few weeks have been rushed due to some house work after a fire etc so not 100% thought has gone into them. but thank you.

A little too uniform and dark for my liking. It looks pretty sharp but there's a slight lean to the right (or it's my head) and clone out the white spot in front of the left (padlock?) one :)

I see what you were aiming for, and it's nearly there... a little dark, and I agree with Darren on the lean to the right of the locks.

Mechanical looks a little underexposed to me. An interesting take on the theme though. :)

Nicely composed with all the numbers lined up
The accountant in me approves!

I think it was the right choice to go for B&W too.
I do agree with the comments about it being a bit dark though - Personally, I think it could do with both brightness and contrast being turned up a couple of notches.

Hope you're almost through the aftermath of that fire now.

Cracking image for Present - would never of guessed they were speakers.

Not sure about the padlocks for Mechanical - as has been said needs a slight rotation.

Hi Sarah i have added a Moddified version here larger on my flickr.

Nice clean simple shot. I like the reflection. I have done dice as well, not as good as yours though. Well done

thank you, do you not think the reflection could be better?

the background is a new thing for me, work was getting rid of some printed display plastic stands. one side had this semi reflective white. My stanley came out and took some home lol. I think the reflection is down to a crease.

I like the simplicity and crisp image of the single dice and the I think the reflection adds to the shot rather than detracts:)

The crease in the reflection makes it look like its on water.

Lovely clean image with attention to composition and lighting. You took care and time with this by the looks of it, and it shows.

Very nice effort.

Ian.

i have gone back to this after image again lol. after a while it looks wonky. but its not.

I really like that, It's a nice and clean image.

I think the reflection really makes the image, that's something I need to sort out for myself, some way of getting nice clean reflections.

Very good.

Somehow it's subtly a lot better straightened even though I didn't notice it was off in the first place

Nice shot! I did notice the slight wonk and it looks much better now with regard to the reflection it looks like it's just a slight warp in the surface maybe just a case of moving the dice around slightly untill you find a clean reflection.....doesn't bother me too much personally :)

Well done David, simple, clean, the reflection is spot on, and with the straighten it's bang on... I didn't even notice the lean, but it looked odd.

I like this.

Very clean and simple. The reflection works very nicely

As an alternative you could try with two dice or the dice tumbling (may take several attempts to get the timing right on that one though  )

I like it. Minimalistic, clean and well shot.

Very minimalist. Reflection is a bit annoying being squashed like that, would have preferred a mirror(ish) image. Good otherwise :)

I like it, nice and simple, clean and crisp. Nice work :)

Great shot David. Nice and simple albeit with the slightly squashed reflection. Maybe could have included the edge of the right hand shadow as well. Nicely lit though.

 I liked the original, but this is a big improvement IMO. It's amazing what a difference a tweak in PP can make.

Play : Simplicity it is . . . but it works
The straightened edit is a big improvement, although until I saw them side by side I would have never noticed that it was wonky

The lighting is superb and I love the clean white background. You've done particularly well to keep the definition between all the white elements in the shot.

I'm swinging between finding the reflection irritating and thinking that it adds something to the image
Part of me would like to see it more perfect, but on the other hand the distortion makes it almost feel like it's sitting on water . . . and I kind of like that idea.

Rushed this weeks, contracted food poisoning so feeling very under the weather. :( but any way enough of the gory stuff.

It was time for a 20% water change in the aquarium so thought make use of the water test tubes

Chemistry.

Sunday must be the day for the fishy people to do their chores. Good colours, nice and sharp. Maybe a little too central but looks good

David, good colours, and clearly Chemistry. I just feel there's a little bit too much space around that's not doing anything... perhaps try a Portrait crop ?
