Week 6 - Present.

This was a valentines day present for the wife when she was my girlfriend years ago.

Didn't really have much enthusiasm as i broke my new lens which i got 5 images out of then broke it. :(

St Nicholas Gate.......tucked out the way though

Sorry to hear about your lens woes.
not sure whether I'm commenting pre-change or post-change, but I like the image of the dog teddy. Have you thought about correcting the white balance, it looks a bit yellow to me.

Had a dabble but didn;t go to plan so leaving it be.

WB is going to changed and will post a new version.

Awww- that's gorgeous! The pose and focus is just right and now you have got the lighting sorted out too.

Very nice image. Not sure it says present without your explanation though :)

thanks your right it doesn't shout presnt as such without my explanation.

i Just didn't have much thoughts as i had broken my lens through my own fault lol and only having got 5 shots from it. better luck next week when it should be back with me.

2nd version is much better

A very cute image and it really does have the awwwww factor. I think I typed this on somebody else's thread but it would look lovely printed out as a unique and personal Valentine's card.

Sorry to hear about your lens . . . is it repairable?

New version added now. looks much better. i really need to learn the lighting.

Excellent David - much improved over the first image. This is the sort of thing I'm hoping to achieve doing the 52 - learn, learn learn (and maybe improve!)

I like that, and the 2nd image is better :)

Sorry to hear about your lens though! :(

2nd Image is much better and the red adds the perfect splash of colour

thanks all. this 52 is certainly a learning curve. it makes you think about the whole setting up. what settings and subject etc.

Week 7 is a scary though at the min lol.

Brilliant, lovely subject, nice lighting and the splash of red really holds my attention.

the second is much better... lovely... Sorry to hear about the lens, I hope it's normal again soon.

Week 7 - People

I want to welcome the Saturday Night Speakers.

It has been a thinker this one.

Would of loved to go in public but way beyond my comforts with taking strangers.

I like your image David, my only observation would be that it would be good to see the full reflections of the little people. The dof I like too, focussing on the front figure is just right.
I used an image for week 6 that had reflections and felt my image would have been complete if it had the full reflection.
A fun take on this weeks theme which as you say has been a thinker but then if it wasn't it wouldn't be called a challenge. Roll on the next theme:thumbs:

Oh they're rather cool !

Ok, It's a nice image and I really love your take on the theme but perhaps if the focus had been deeper ? Just my own personal taste, as I've said elsewhere the theme was people, not person so to my mind that means focussing on everyone in the shot, not just an individual.
I hope this doesn't take from the fact it's a good shot, well lit, nicely composed and one of my faves so far.

Fun, quirky take on people :)

You really should try and get out of your comfort zone, its bloody scary at first, but you get a certain buzz from it! :)

Great entry to the 52, made me chuckle! :)

thanks i do need to break the chain and try street photography. one day iwill.

I may try a new version with the whole reflections.

Cool looking characters and nice idea. Needs a straighten anti-clockwise and the whole reflections would be nice, but otherwise good, fun image :)

Funktastic! Who got da funk? you got da funk!

Brilliant David!
Great idea and very well executed. I too would like to see the full reflection in the shot just to finish it off perfectly but still very well done.
I even like the splash of coloured reflection (whatever that is) down the LHS of each one.

Silly question, but what's going on with their belt buckles? The one in front seems to be completely smooth, but it looks like there's more details in some of the others. It might have been better to have one with more detail in the first position.

thank you. the bit on their buckles on two of them is the on switch for the speakers.

They are fully working speakers for pc or mp3 players. could clone them out.

Hehe i like it, amusing little shot. Did you try putting the focus on the second one back? Could be cool i suppose... maybe that's a bit distracting though... ignore me :p

as you said it yes, i tried the focus each one all the way to the back but found the one at the front worked better.

crazy things and sound ok too.

I really like your people shot, I think the DOF is perfect and love the reflections (although as said wish I could see all the reflections).

A very good and probably unique take on the theme.

That works very well Dave... I really like the DOF, and the colours. I think the full reflections would have been better, but it works. I'm glad you explained what they are, I was wondering about the hair.

lol tesco extra are selling these off at £2.47 a pack were as play.com they £12.99

Well here is week 8
