Hey I have an essay to write on an image I have chosen (i struggle badly with writting) and was wondering what do you think or know of this image by breaking it down, whats the story behind it?

It's by David LaChapelle - "But I am a Vegetarian: Pamela Anderson"

I think it has something to do with animal rights??
I'm not sure but a few notes would be helpful so I can keep an open mind.

Thanks.

Then why didn't you mention in your original request that your essay required you to quote references and so forth...

oh and insulting other members of the forum is not the brightest way to get people to co-operate with you. For what it's worth, until you can actually master typing in english, I'd suggest that you lay off the faux-spanish!

idiosa? is that Student for Please give me 3 days off?

Cheers, I googled the artist, got lots of hits. If I googled the title I just got this thread.

Interesting picture, wasn't aware of this artist before.
If he'd used a male pig and that pose, could it have been another play on pork?

A link to the image would help?

Okay - it's only a 30 second google, but I agree - and symptomatic of exactly what I meant in my first posting... the OP isn't prepared to do their own research in depth before coming here to pick our brains.

FWIW, if the original request had mentioned that they had already done research into the image, given a link or two to existing information on the image, and asked if we could contribute anything as the brief for the essay required extra research and opinion gathering, then I'd have been happy to help. As it is, apparently i'm just an idiot with a spanish accent...

Que?

The bigyin earlier

 - always thought he was the wee spanish yin, but like the man in the orthopedic shoes, I stand corrected :)

Spanish? He's German.

You've picked a really tough image / photographer to write an essay about. At least in terms of breaking down an image.
LaChapelle is perhaps more interesting to talk about in terms of his style.

I wrote an essay deconstructing a Hannah Starkey Image and found it ok.

Might be worth giving a few texts a read if your interested in semiotics and the deconstruction of images...

Roland Barthes: Rhetoric of the Image
Victor Burgin: Looking at Photographs

There are loads but those are the first two that spring to mind.
Hope this has been some help,

Good luck with your essay.

I'd start off with - take a snap shot of a breasty blond (make sure her tits are out for no reason) then import to photoshop ........

I think that's a little unfair. It's Pamela Anderson, all she's known for is her bust ;)
