Is it just me or is anybody else hacked off that every time there is an England game all we get is wall to wall Beckham, will he start or not should he be in the squad etc etc

For heaven sake their are another 20 odd players that we could talk about some of whom are the future of English football, dont get me wrong Beckham has given much to England but his time is coming to an end,or should already have come to an end so why cant the media get rid of the stuck record and talk about something else

lol @ tiler65

Isn't he going to equal some record or something though? (cant stand football but heard something on the news)

It's nowhere near as irritating as the fact that every time there is an England international, 1966 gets mentioned

or should already have come to an end

Is that why he's currently got a regular starting place in one of the best teams in the world (AC Milan) ?

I have no problem with Beckham fever. And so long as he's "good enough" to be part of the England squad then I don't care how long he goes on for.

The guy certainly shows more passion than a fair few who have worn the shirt.

he equals a record tonight which is why there is attention

he pooves his worth and IMO is worthy of a start still

I'll second that!! I don't know how old you are Flash, but I have had almost 43 years of hearing that mentioned :shake:

Mind you, it's good to read about Engerland's exploits at cricket ;)

Oooooo goody An "I hate football thread", where do I sign up?
Though I do believe ( as per a news item) that its something to do with, by playing tonight,
he will be equalling Bobby moore's "caps" what ever that means
and if he gets picked he will donate the shirt to a cancer charity that Mrs Moore runs
So does anyone one else see the emotional bribary and corruption in this ?

Think Im with you on this one Captain.I have no problems with Beckham getting his 108th cap but boy oh boy am I irritated by the media circus that surrounds his every waking breath.Im a huge footy fan but the hype surrounding the game nowadays is just ridiculous.
Pete.

David Beckem reached his 108th cap, his 108th appearence for England. He has now played for England the same amount of times that Bobby Moore did.

Well, if Scotland ever pulls its finger out and wins a world cup then you might not hear about it so much!

Aye Barney you are correct BUT we are only a small nation of around 5million and we know that we could never win the WC. On the other hand, Engerlund is a nation of 50 million and the 'Dan Saff' media Expect any sporting team to win every competition they enter.

Can we use this thread to have a massive rant and moan about football, it's fans and it's players?

Oh and the dopey tarts that think it's cool to shack up with a player?!

Oh, Beckham's also in the news because his ex-girlfriend claims to be pregnant by Sven... all just makes me laugh really :p

I quite like Bobby Moore. And I also quite like David Beckham. But which is better?

There's only one way to find out...

... I think we're okay where we are!

Personally, I think that competing as seperate nations in a global sport like football is ridiculous, we should have a UK team as with athletics. We should also merge the leagues so the like of Rangers and Celtic can play in the Premiership/Championship on merit.

Its the same in any sport. During the last Rugby World Cup all we heard was 'the team of 2003 this and that."

Wait until the next Olympics and all we will get is comparisons to the amazing team in 2008. And just you wait until the next British F1 driver comes on to the scene, we are not going to hear the last of Lewis Hamilton.

The hype is all part of the media circus generated by the media to make the media look as if they have some important part in our lives.

As for Mr Beckham. Well as already mentioned there are many players who have not worn the shirt with as much pride and passion as he. Being an avide football fan i can not forget the amount of times that DB pulled us out of the brown stuff and helped us win games/ qualify. So if there is a bit of sentiment in him getting picked, so be it. It's up to some of the younger/ newer players to perform and force him out of the side, there are some that are close too.
