Spot on Dave, I really like it, and a very original take on quad
 
wow, your produce shot is beautiful! What filters did you use? I love the colours. I love all sunsets. beautiful! Was it shot in Dorset?

Chemistry - amazing, the detail is insane!

Thanks Andy. It was pretty much as shot - I used a 4 stop hard line grad filter to darker down the sky.

14.52 - Shoot.

Well I was out today looking around an abandoned lime quarry with Julian (Shrubmonkey) and remembered that I hadn't done my 52 shot this week - spotted this shoot growing up from under this digger bucket shortly afterwards :D

Spot on theme, brilliant composition and there's some interesting processing too, whatchado?
 
Quad: Love the close up of the barbed wire, great idea!

Shoot: like clud17 was lost at first then read the info - great angle and colour, really pops and adds a lot of depth to this great shot ;)
 
Another who was wondering where the shoot came in... then read it.. it works very well, and I like it.
 
Dave that is an awesome shot - my favourite of the week. Love the imposing feel and processing of it.
 
I didn't spot the shoot at first either! But I like the perspective and processing, and made sense when you pointed it out. Certainly still a lot more 'on-theme' that some of my attempts have been :lol:

Obviously I don't hang out at abandoned quarries often enough.

Composition, angle and sense of perspective are all spot on and the PP really makes it. Is that a bit of selective desatuarion?

Thanks Rob :) Nothing special on the processing - just a boost of saturation here and there using control points in NX2

Cheers Chris. that was the idea - to try and get the bucket and the plant to stand out in the foreground.

Thanks Sarah, as said above, not too much PP on this, but I did use a flash to boost the rusty colour on the bucket, and I also had an off-camera flash to lift the shadows on the main digger body :D

I'm another one that wouldn't have got where shoot came in until you told me though :) Once I read it then it was obvious.

Really nice take on the theme. I like the way that you've laid it out and I love the B&W treatment.
The pawn is so sharp too - makes me want to reach into the shot and pick it up.

This is purely a personal thing rather than anything wrong, but I'm not quite sold on the angle. For my tastes I think I'd prefer a straight shot.
 
I quite like the angle Dave. The DOF has brought out the grain on the pawn and the board nicely too.
 
Ohhh... excellent Dave. Love it. The texture of the Pawn is spot on... The DOF works brilliantly and I like the angle.
 
Nice lighting, processing and DOF. I'm with Sarah, though, and would prefer the shot straight.
 
Some stunning shots in this 52 with "Shoot" as my favourite I think.

Will promise to try and keep up in future....

16.52 - Stare. This girl (guy?) was certainly staring hard at the kite down at West Wittering this afternoon!!

OK OK I know it's a weak 'stare' shot but it's the best I'm going to manage this week!! :D Wish I'd saved week 11's shot for this week instead!!

P.S. Male or female? - what do you reckon?

Not sure it's a 'weak' stare Dave - certainly concentrating on what he/she is doing.

Can't work out whether male/female though. ;)
 
Maybe a little crowbar used there Dave but as an image I really like it.

Composition is nice and you've got good sharp detail on the person
 
Really good shot Dave.
It may not be the stariest stare, but I like it a lot - the muted colours, the intense concentration on his face and the motion in the water all work well together.
Those things can really get some speed up too, so I think you've done well to get such a sharp shot of it.

Were you actually out on the water when you shot this? I'm finding it hard to work out where you were in relation what seems to be the beach in the background.

p.s. I'm voting male, based on the size of the hands and the jawline . . . but I'm not 100% convinced, and if she is female I've just really insulted her :lol:
 
I absolutely love 'single'! Wish I'd thought of that, the depth of field is spot-on! No as keen on stare, but it's a different shot, and well captured too, so it's a :thumbs: from me! :)
 
It's an excellent image Dave, not sure it screams stare... but nor does mine ;)... I like it... I'm gonna go with female... not sure why... just seems like it.
 
Very crisp picture freezing the action just at the right time for your take on stare must have been using a long expensive lens for that capture. :)

You definitely need to keep an eye on those power kites.. my sister took her eyes off one when she was in a buggy and it lifted her out and dragged her across a playing field before she remembered to let go with one hand!

Great shots, wittering eh? I haven't been there this year yet :( Waiting for the summer for my annual trip there for my birthday bbq!

Thanks Sarah. I was actually stood at the waters edge - the tide goes out a rather long way at the Witterings :)
