Just had a quick look through your thread Dave, you have some great shots. I particularly like your present and chopped :lol:
I also like you mechanical - lots going on, crisp and sharp.

9.52 - Play.

Another sailing related shot - Playing with boats!
 
That's very nice Dave. The flash of colour holds the interest and I love the way the men are silhouetted against the sail. Excellent :clap:
 
Lovely image Dave. The splash of red really sets this off, with the silhouettes.
 
The sport shot for people looks like they are starting a conga line :lol:

I understand your thinking behind your mechanical shot but kind of agree with the busy comments.

I can see you have a thing for boats, cracking sailing shot, the colour of the sail works very well.

Now I've said I'm not really that keen on boats - but I really like this shot Dave. Certainly says Play but to me also screams Summer.

Colours are terrific. :thumbs:

Nope. Even with my limited knowledge I can see how that would make a poor football pitch, but it certainly makes for great shots :thumbs:

Now onto this week.

There is nothing in it that I don't like. Everything just sits perfectly with me.
Vibrant red that's picked up in the reflection. Great silhouettes and just enough background detail to give it some context.

Absolutely superb :notworthy:

10.52 - Chemistry (in action)

What looks like a simple shot actually was quite difficult! A full pack of Alka Seltzer used and hundreds of shots taken, and I'm still not completely happy with it :bang: I've run out of tablets now and the rugger's on so it'll have to do! :lol:

Great idea, I would be happy with that shot. Must be hard capturing all that energy as it must fizz quite quickly.

Just read your reply to my previous comment. The Hurricane looks a cool boat i bet you can have some fun in that , i have to confess though when i was sailing (many years ago now) i quite enjoyed getting on the edge and tipping over:lol:

I don't like the bubbles up against the glass! I enjoy being up on the edge, but not tipping in! Too cold and too hard to get upright again! :lol:

Week 9 - Excellent, really intrigued by that and would happily have that put into Calender etc :)

Week 10 - Phenomenal. I didn't think of this idea at all and I had tablets for my shot too!!
Will have to have a go at this sometime..... looks quite fun, as well as frustrating.

Can you share your secret on how you achieved it?.....please...:D

Nope, I don't mind sharing how I did it. I brought (from a cheapo shop for £1.80) a small square shaped vase/glass to ensure I didn't get any distortion from any curved glass. I then used a tiny watch maker's screwdriver to 'drill' a hole in an Alka Seltzer tablet, which I then threaded some white cotton through (the bubbles hid the cotton in the shot). I dropped the tablet in the glass filled with water using the cotton to stop the tablet sinking to the bottom of the glass and voilà! Actually it took quite a few attempts to get right! Lighting - off-camera SB800 Speedlight 45 degree left of camera and I used a piece of black card behind the glass to get the black background. Simples! :)

11.52 - Candid - The 'Stare'

This chap was very strange - he stood in this position for about 5 minutes just staring into nothing before I moved in front of him to get this shot. Not quite sure what to make of him :shrug: But it was in Brighton so who knows......:thinking:

He looks a lot like he's practicing qigong. This is one of the key stances.
 
Thanks Dean. I did wonder what he was doing - he was walking around waving his arms about slowly before he stopped and did this (rushes off to look up qigong :))
