209/365 - I picked up a Nikon 70-210 f4 today and this was one of my test shots at 210mm f4 1/2500th sec ISO 200. Seems to be pretty good for £140 :D

Nah Dave, looks crap. You'd be better posting it over here so I can look after it. :D
 No chance!

Good value at £140 :)
Yep, doesn't seem too bad, Still in the process of testing though.

Pretty flower, didnt even notice the bug at first! Nice bokeh.
Thanks Lisa :D

No picture posted yesterday as I was at the races all day and stayed away last night. Lots of shots taken though so will be posted tonight when I get home from work. :)

210/365 - Lucky Seven.....

.....or not in my case! A shot from Glorious Goodwood yesterday. I didn't win anything  Taken with the Nikkor 70-210 f4 :D I'm liking this lens!

Nice mate.
Looks like you got a winner with that lens
Not 100% convinced yet Andy.....but for the money...not bad!

212/365 - Inspired by the flying ants to break out the macro gear, I managed to snap this hover fly about to land. Not quite tack sharp, but not too bad for manual focus!

Very true, thought of that after posting, but no matter, shooting a moving insect in manual still takes some doing ;)

So theoretically, all my messing about with tubes and reversing the nifty on the tubes etc, is a good starting point for a macro obsession?? Every macro-esq shot I've taken has been fully manual, including the guess the shutter speed/aperture combo. :D And all bar one, handheld. :D

Manual focus = move the camera back and forth until in focus. You should still be able to meter with the D90 on a reversed lens I think?

That's what I had been doing, slapped the 50mm to infinity and moved in and out. It does meter a reversed lens, but not when it's blu tacked onto the end of a set of extension tubes!!

Er yes, I see where you're coming from!

Catching up Dave. Very impressive macro shot there and I like the horse racing shot. Glad to see someone also having fun with a 10-20. :D
Thanks Marc. Yes, I love my 10-20 :D

Nice shot Dave, good choice for mono too. Seems's like I was only there last weekend, ahh I was :)

Lovely B&W Dave.

I'm wondering if the camera or the dog at his feet are his best friend??

He looks lonely and dejected.
I think his wife had just gone for a pee!

The hoverfly shot is superb! :)

I really like the rose picture too
Thanks Kay, the rose isn't to everyone's taste but I like it too!

Thanks Julian. You really should keep an eye on the Meeting Place forum you know! There's a Popham fly in next Sat if you fancy meeting up :D

214/365 - NO, NOT ME!

Here's a shot I've been meaning to do for a while with my son, who hates having his photo taken, as you can tell!

215/365 - Three Trees

I took this on the way to work this morning. It's a 7 shot sequence with each shot taken 0.7 stops apart, all merged in Photomatix. This HDR lark is harder than it looks, and I'm not completely happy with this. More practice needed!

You bloody should be completely happy mate, it's a beauty of a shot

Good HDR Dave. The problem with multiple exposures is the cloud movement, makes it look a bit blury, but nothing you can really do about it. As JD says, use the AEB 3 exposures, not relly much benefit in using more, plus it takes ages.

Yes Sir, of course Sir, oh great HDR one! (I think I've just been told off by the Master!)

I'm warming to it - it just doesn't look natural to me I suppose. It's too 'in yer face'! But no matter how I moved those sliders, it just wouldn't happen for me!
