Don't like Bob that much
Dave Allen was great. Some of the current crop of alleged comedians (Miranda Hart, Ricky Gervais, Sarah Millican) would do well to learn from Dave Allen and others of that era.
Steve.
Comics of today are just amateurs in comparison.

I was quite young when Dave Allen was coming to the end of his career but I can still remember a few of his jokes/stories after all these years. Such a dry delivery style and probably one of the first breed of mainstream observational comedian.

The two "jokes" that I mainly remember are about his daughter having a boyfriend and him commenting on them being in the bedroom together and he was feeding her rabbit when in his opinion the boyfriend should have *been* with the rabbit and his daughter should have been feeding him and the other was about cars that talk and tell you what the problem is but after all the warnings about oil, petrol, servicing they say "you can't afford to run me can you"![]()

Yes certainly Miranda Hart is very overated just slapstick in my opinion
I'm not a fan of Miranda Hart, but slapstick has been a valid form of comedy for a very very long time
I watched a bit of Jackie Chan's Medallion last evening with Lee Evans co-starring. IMO, he spoiled it with the hammy overacting (not that the whole film is one of JC's best!) and his ever present Norman Wisdom impression. Last time I saw an LE stand up show on TV he combined the NW impression (with the trademark LE excess sweatiness) with more effing and blinding than Frankie Boyle.
