Darkslinger's 52 Week Challenge - 2022

Gosh you have been busy this week and submitted some excellent images. I love your chosen shot - very dramatic.

Thanks Helen, yes I had four days off in a row and took full advantage!

Great set of images. Chosen one is superb but I like the second shot very much too.
Thanks Simon, I as torn between them but the Heron would have been offended after taking the time to pose so well :D

A lot of good images to choose from this week.
ICM is excellent.

No. 2 would have been my choice.
Thanks Peter, there were actually a few of these old rusted bolts sticking up and a I took a number of shots.

Week #3 - Receptacle(s):
Protective Dorsal Segment Containment Devices
Jan 21-22-2.jpg

Synthetic Polymer Multipurpose Repository
Jan 21-22-7.jpg

Monetary Disc Management Vessel
Jan 21-22-6.jpg

Misapplied Effervescent Liquid Portioning Instrument
Jan 21-22-8.jpg

I do love 'Protective Dorsal Segment Containment Devices'... they're very similar to thimbles! :D

The composition is great and the hard contrast and the light and reflections on the metal works really well. DOF is spot on too, trailing off with the thread.

Nice image, the reflections work really well and the titles made me smile. You'll be playing the washboard next. :p

The titles help brighten up an otherwise dull morning - and I love the thimbles shot.

Good stuff - love the titles :)

Your chosen shot the best for me - great composition and clarity, and as all the above - great titles!

The last four are all good shots, but the titles are beyond superb!

All excellent shots. Love the titles.

Good shot as your chosen entry!

Thank you all for your kind comments. I had the idea for the title of the thimbles and everything just snowballed from there!

I love your terminology! The chosen shot is great but then I am a mono sucker. All work well.

The Thimbles shot is very well composed and lit, and the DoF finely set. An excellent shot for the 52

Week #4 - Bottle

Not fully happy with outcome of this shot. I was trying for something a little more abstract:

Jan 27-22-3.jpg

Found this "bottle deconstructed" by the side of the path:

Jan 27-22 - reduced.jpg

And the blue of this bottle caught my eye while strolling through New Westminster, but I couldn't get a composition I was happy with:

I like the interesting take on the chosen shot - 180° lateral thinking!

New - Really enjoyed this image, viewed on my iPad so definitely had to see it in full glory in portrait. The blurriness (??) of the power line make them more of an aid to stop my attention disappearing off the sky so do work for me remaining in the image.

Old - The bolt graveyard is my favourite with nice foreground detail, could be interesting in mono too.

Receptacle - your linguistic sequence of characters forming verbal chains are great. I like the digit protection capsules with the material penetration device the best.

Bottle - All interesting images, the deconstructed one I like best

Thanks Nod, I did something similar a few months ago with a bottle that I happened upon while walking the dogs. I liked the end result better with that one.

Thank you Stuart, I appreciate the comments.

Great set. Number 2 is my favourite you captured something many people would just miss, monochrome gives it a feeling of mystery/drama.

An interesting perspective on the bottle theme. I can see what you mean about your chosen shot - it's almost there - the light reflecting on the outermost pimples (is that. technical term?) around the bottom make for a really interesting effect, but the middle of the shot doesn't quite live up to the rest, but a good take nonetheless.
I think I prefer your second "deconstructed bottle" shot which I think is very nicely composed and shot in mono.

Bottoms up! Nice one :)

I really like your bottle shot. I was planning on something similar, but from the top... when I get round to it. I really like how you have captured the reflections in the ridge around the bottom. Almost makes them look like lights.

LOL, I think I would call the dimples rather than pimples :D . But your right, they were an unintended but welcome effect of having the sun at my back.

Bottoms up! Nice one :)
Thanks Dave!

Thank you Bebop, I think a "down the spout" shot would be interesting.

All bang on theme, but number 2 is my kind of shot. The DOF works really nicely.

Nice selection. I prefer the deconstructed bottle.. it tells a (sort of) story. Great in mono and a really nice dof.

Well that's just a lovely set Bill. Hard to choose as they are all so different. I think I like the 1st the best though.
