Darkslinger's 52 for 25

Agree works very well. You should have kept one for this week.

Well done for the genre. I don’t really get it but that’s not your fault :)

Like the shot you chose, think the main subjects being a bit clearer works and like the lines on the canopy.

Not sure about the headless model on the RHS 4th? shot :)

Interesting use of ICM. Some of these I like, some I don't, and therein lies the joy of art and diversity of taste.

The umbrellas in the last one create a "pop" that lifts the image, for me the best one.

Great pics… i think it works well and the reflections caused by the wet weather add to it.
Thanks Simon
Good idea, and a bit different.
Thanks Paul, yeah, I know it's a little bit out there...

Isn't it always the way? You post something and the next challenge is the one that it would fit best in

LOL, made me laugh, yeah, it's not for everyone
Chosen shot is great. And would have fitted perfectly for this week's theme too.
Thanks Kell, for sure but that just means I get to go out and wander the streets again.

Didn't even see that there,,,now I can't not see it there...

Yeah, I liked that one myself, it has some layers that some of the others don't

Week #46 Urban Life
After the downtown party

Week 45 - Urban Life 1.JPG

Robson Square in front of the Art Gallery. they hang festive lights in the winter. I saw this couple and they look so happy and then in post I noted that I had caught the oncoming lady perfectly between them...I like it when a good plan comes together... :D
Week 45 - Urban Life 2.JPG

I've shot this building so many time but I'm kind of liking this perspective with the lines and the pole:

Extra security on Granville Street:
Week 45 - Urban Life 4.JPG

I was going for a capture of the two workers on the way to the Skytrain station. It wasn't until post that I saw the other guy smiling at me...

The gates leading down to the train:

Nice set with the last floating my boat :)

Week #47 Key(s)

So three, kind of, shoehorns for this week:

My thought is that homonyms are good as a submission, so, with that in mind, I went to Lonsdale Quay and shot this:
Week 46 - Key(s)Week 46 - Key(s)3.JPG

And then there is the ultimate purpose for any key:
Week 46 - Key(s) 1.JPG

And, of course, I had to process an image as High Key:

Lovely Shots there Bill, My kind of Pictures!

The quays shot is magic.
And the padlocks
And you have caught the pedestrian beautifully!

Love the processing of the first, really suits the dull wet day.
Thanks Allan, Vancouver is the wild, wild, wet, for sure.

Thanks Wayne, I really appreciate the kind words.

Three fab shots Bill. 'Quay' was my backup plan if the 'A Minor Key' didn't come off :)

Good set there Bill, especially the quay shot, that was also on my list but the only problem was there are no quays anywhere near us :).
IIRC we have seen a wider shot of the padlocks before, just being curious is that a memorial in the foreground of the first shot

A great set!
Thanks Paul!

Thanks Dave, I was planning to go out to the quay anyways. "I love it when a plan comes together"

You know...I had to look closely at the shot to see what you were talking about. I didn't even realize that there was a plaque there. I'll have to take a look the next time that I go.

Nice shots Bill. All worthy of the theme.
Thanks Simon!

I do like the Quay Homonym. And the shot.
The first time that I said the word out loud, I pronounced it "kway" and everyone laughed.... The joys of childhood...

Week #48 Abstract

When I saw the theme I thought of a shot that I took of bamboo using ICM. When I got it into LR and played with it a bit, it made me think of sand dunes. So...here you go;

Flowing Grass:

The Blue Horizon:

Evening Falls on the Field:

The Restless Sea:

All of these are macro shots of moss or tall grass stalks. Processed in LR and then rotated to a landscape aspect.

Gorgeous images there Bill, they are beautiful!
Those lovely gentle pastel colours are magnificent, and rotating them to create your own land and seascapes. WOW! I like your selected but the last one of shimmering evening light on a calm sea is my favorite.

Week 49 High Contrast

It was a bit of a crap shoot as to what I'd come up with this week. I went out expecting to maybe capture some high contrast graffiti, and I did but it wasn't I ended up picking as my submission...

I shot a breakdance battle on Saturday and got this shot of my son (who is a breaker) wearing a t-shirt with a picture of his girlfriend's dance group. I think that it turned out well.

Week 48 - High Contrast 1.JPG

And then I went out today and got these:
This one from the Stadium Skytrain station (where I got off)

Week 48 - High Contrast 2.JPG

My one graffiti submission:
Week 48 - High Contrast 3.JPG

I shoot this office tower often but I don't know if I've ever captured the structure leading down to the underground parking before. I really liked how the light washed out the tower but kept the tree so contrasty
Week 48 - High Contrast 4.JPG

And then the tower from another angle with the reflections of other towers in the windows
Week 48 - High Contrast 5.JPG

Walking futher I saw this guy standing there perfectly framed in sunlight with his shadow stretching out behind him
Week 48 - High Contrast 6.JPG

And, of course, I had to throw in a multi-exposure shot of the Skytrain station on my way home...

A nice set there Bill, and a nice story as well. I love how you incorporate a second point of interest in your photos and frequently they are strong in their own right! Your photos are making me look harder at my own scenes. Thanks!

Good set Bill, all fit the bill
Like the info with the shots - especially the “and of course” :)

Nice set Bill. I particularly like the 3rd shot. So much going on in that window!

Yes, good set, my pick would be the tower through the tree, many contrasting aspects

Picked the right one. I like the tube but it doesn't fit the brief as well.
